No, the bulk is in operations and maintenance. Lot of the equipment can be retired. We are in process of pulling back from a number of places. When the troops come home, they can join the civilian workforce, and hence less money is needed for operating and maintaining the military AND less money for personnel, which is the 2nd largest expense.

Obama made harsh cuts causing half our planes to be cannibalized to keep the other half flying.
Congress (GOP) made the cuts.

I've been asking them to put their money where their mouths are for years. Fund the means-tested public assistance programs via voluntary donations. Should be no problem since most Democrats insist they're absolutely necessary, while others of us don't. Time for the people who just love to give away others' confiscated earned income to pay up voluntarily, themselves.

Not a single one will agree to that.

Why didn't you ask Republicans to pay their hand outs that way? We just blew $12B in handouts to farmers. Why didn't you call for that to be funded via volutary donations from Republicans?

You are a hypocrite.

Sure. End the Farm Bill. Now. 80% of it goes to fund the Food Stamps program, and its even more than that when the Bill's funding of the free school meals programs is added.

SNAP helps more than 40 million needy individuals, and nutrition programs account for approximately 80 percent of the cost of the current farm bill.

Eliminate ALL of the above. Fund those programs via voluntary donations.

Well, the entire state of MA. not only funds itself, but give the extra to Republican States who can't pull their weight.

Not a single one? I could show you 10's or 100's of million who not only fund themselves and their neighbors, but also fund Red States. It's a fact.

But I guess 10's of millions don't equal ONE in your new math? What you want is someone personally to come to your door and agree to pay their way, eh? Well, I'll come to your virtual door and say I've always paid mine. 40+ years in business and big bucks....and still paying.

End that. Now. Reduce everyone's federal taxes. No more free stuff given away to anyone that is paid for by money confiscated from others' paychecks. Make all means-tested assistance programs funded via voluntary donations. Should be no problem since Democrats want those programs so much.

So if that’s the case you and republicans should be in major favor of heavy spending cuts for the military right?
