Good gracious. Don't know the person but way too young and I didn't think we were concerned with swine flu this year but I guess it's always there. Very sad.

Off-hand I think this year's flu vaccine had the H1N1 (swine flu) added to the shot. It seems to be a strain in the States this year
How terrible. She got her flu shot late and must have been exposed before getting the vaccine or within a few days of getting it (you cannot catch the swine flu or any flu from the vaccine). To die from meningitis and the flu at age 26 is a horrible tragedy. Awful.
Meningitis can bring the healthiest of people down in hours or days.............. and after looking at pictures and videos of Bre ..............she looked very healthy and fit.

meningitis AND H1N1 is a unpleasant way to go. And at age 26 its pretty young. Ouch. Best of luck to her family. I may not have agreed with her politics, but she didn't deserve this.
That’s horrible news. I wonder if she had any underlying health problems? There's probably more to the story.
The weird thing is she had BOTH H1N1 and meningitis. Which...reading it seems H1N1 and meningitis have similar symptoms, so its possible a Dr would notice one, but not the other-making this a VERY difficult combination to treat correctly. Which will probably drive some conspiracy theories. But it also looks like the flu has been utterly brutal this year. The combination of the two is what killed her. Meningitis kills about 20-40% of adults it infects, and H1N1 about .02%. Both are pretty severe though making the combination FAR more deadly.
