On Friday, MetroRail Cape Town lost three more trains to arson; dropping its operational fleet below the halfway mark, leaving thousands of commuters stranded.
Richard Walker, the Western Cape Regional Manager at MetroRail, has confirmed that the latest spate of arson attacks has left brought the City’s rail infrastructure to its knees. Speaking to 702 Talk Radio, following train fires at Cape Town, Firgrove and Mbekweni stations, Walker confirmed that MetroRail operations have been sliced in half due to the loss of carriages over the last three years.
