TDS sure runs deep in some

We all know Trump won (barely) because he was running against someone so widely disliked.

That in no way excuses his irresponsible conduct as President of the US for the past two years. No president in recent history has executed his responsibilities with such incompetence.

The Wall funding deal Trump should’ve taken, but didn’tl

Quote:
Though this doesn’t come up much anymore, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) met privately with Trump at the White House in January, and the two had what was described as the “Cheeseburger Summit.” After the meeting, the Democratic leader seemed optimistic that he and the president had come up with the “framework” for an immigration deal.

As we discussed at the time, the basic contours of the deal were straightforward: Schumer was willing to accept funding for a border wall in exchange for DACA protections for Dreamers.

After Trump negotiated the terms, the White House balked: Chief of Staff John Kelly called Schumer soon after to explain the plan wasn’t far enough to the right for Republicans.

The Bottom Line: Walls Work. When it comes to stopping drugs and illegal aliens from crossing our borders, border walls have proven to be extremely effective. Border security relies on a combination of border infrastructure, technology, personnel and partnerships with law enforcement at the state, local, tribal, and federal level. For example, when we installed a border wall in the Yuma Sector, we have seen border apprehensions decrease by 90 percent. In San Diego, we saw on Sunday that dilapidated, decades-old barriers are not sufficient for today’s threat and need to be removed so new – up to 30 foot wall sections can be completed.

I guess this vanity wall decreased apprehension by 90%....DAMN those ******* border patrol agents for telling the truth.....

Sad, but expected from trump haters...

Could have been worked through. Instead this was the vote for trump's counter offer:

but the president’s preferred immigration alternative received just 39 votes in a chamber with a Republican majority
Also in that same link you so closely read.

Why would they disclose how they *really* get the drugs in? Great opportunity for diversion.

Democrats offered 25 billion for wall in exchange for the Dreamer's act less than a year ago and trump rejected this offer.

Top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer has pulled back an offer of $25 billion for President Donald Trump’s long-promised southern border wall, as lawmakers scrambled to figure out how to push a deal to protect 700,000 or more so-called Dreamer immigrants from deportation.

No, I don’t think they did.
That legislation resulted in court cases that are still being litigated as well as the realization that it was impractical, hence the amendment to the legislation in 2007.

“Responding to urging from the Department of Homeland Security -- which argued that different border terrains required different types of fencing, that a one-size-fits-all approach across the entire border didn't make sense -- Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, proposed an amendment to give DHS the discretion to decide what type of fence was appropriate in different areas. The law was amended to read, "nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors in a particular location along an international border of the United States, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location."”

Trump Let His Goal of Building a Border Wall Slip Away

Quote:
Trump’s best chance for border wall funding at the level he wants came in February 2018, when Republican Senator Mike Rounds teamed up with independent Senator Angus King on compromise immigration legislation.

It included $25 billion over a decade to build a wall along the southern border and a path to citizenship for so-called Dreamers who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children. It also barred green card holders from sponsoring adult children for permanent residency and reoriented enforcement priorities to focus on criminals in the country illegally.

Trump torched the bill as a "giant amnesty"
for narrowing the scope of deportations, and complained that it didn’t end diversity visas or stop "chain migration" -- his derisive term for laws that allow American citizens to sponsor siblings and parents for green cards.

Yep. Trump owns this government shutdown because of his slammed shut mind!

Why were 60 votes needed? It's pretty simple.....even after trump gave the dems double DACA.....
