They are the experts but it doesn't make sense to me. If we can see through it to see the immigrants then the immigrants can see through it to see the agents. They will watch, learn our patrol rotation, and wait in the bushes until a patrol leaves, then attempt to breach.
I think we're better off with neither party seeing through it and relying on technology to see them (wall-mounted cameras, infrared sensors, drones) that they are less likely to have.
So you want the US to build either a concrete or steel (rusts) plank wall in the middle of a winding river that extends over 100 miles? How much support do you expect the muddy and sandy bottom will provide for that wall?
And yes, we do want an answer before we blow billions on this folly of a project!

Why would you possibly assume that those that support a wall would oppose this technology as well? That is one of the POINTS of the wall (barrier). Limit crossings except at ports of entry-allowing more effort and technology to be focused there, instead of using so many resources trying to "secure" an open border.
