He sucker punched the Dems with a $30B claim.
It was never going to cost that much, so he spread the word - and all the media bought it - that The Wall was going to be - "I dunno, 25, 30 million, whatever" - when the truth is most of The Wall can be built for much, much less.
That way when Dems give "just a little", they actually have given him everything.
MAGA
So you think he can build the wall and provide sufficient infrastructure repairs at port of entries for under 2 billion. In 2006 550 miles of wall/fencing was built for 2.3 billion. I think 700 miles today will cost more.
And that somehow we were 'fooled' into thinking it would cost more.
And how does that translate to a win for the President?

Estimates from the OMB support the number around 25 to 30B, or greater.

Uh huh, and pigs fly. Face it, YOUR BOY LOST...….BIGLY ! He thought he would hold his breath and get his big, beautiful wall, and all he did was shoot himself in the foot. His ratings dropped, people who once supported him were denied their paychecks, and it cost the country unimaginable harm and money.
If he tries this little boneheaded trick again, even his most staunch supporters, and his own party, will put the brakes on it. He failed, and we all know it. Pelosi called his bluff and she was the winner.

Uh-Oh.
The Dims are a little angry.
Losing doesn't come easy. The President's approval has moved back to 50% from a recent low of 43% and promises to perhaps go even higher.
The Wall will be built, Individual 435 will go back home to New York, and The Dims will be left wondering why their ever-present anger didn't carry the day.
All will be well.
If they put up 20 feet of Jersey barriers along the border somewhere the Trumpies could call it a wall and a win for Trump and we could all move on from this nonsense.

As you can readily see, that's the fence being erected as part of the Secure Fence Act of 2006.
Most of which was constructed during Obama's Administration.
What's being conferred right now is how much of that fence to extend.
You could say that tRump is fighting to extend Obama's Wall.
