The discussions on the wall should be more specific.
1. Is it important to secure the border?
2. Is it necessary to stop illegal immigrants and drugs?
3. Is a wall sufficient to stop illegal immigrants and drug? (hint: tunnel)
4. Does it cost money to maintain the wall?
The conservatives agree with 1 and 2, the liberals believe humans cannot be illegal so they don't totally agree with 2.
Trump supporters are naive enough to believe in 3.
Hardcore Trump supporters even believe a wall won't cost more money once it's built.
Regardless of what we think of the 20% to build any wall based on that one study would be insane. A study that uses interviews with subsequent statistical projections is suspect from the outset.
You mean like the US Census? Which is essentially an interview with no collaborating verification of the answers given. And yet, we based spending of Trillions of dollars on that.
Think of how many studies are based on statistical projections of interviews on a sample. Are you sure you want to throw them all out? Interviews are recognized as a tried and true qualitative research method. https://www.nature.com/articles/bdj.2008.192

"Border security" means "not permanent" which is what the left wants because they would immediately defund/mismanage the money if they ever had the power to do so. A wall is permanent border security which is a primary reason why the left hates it.
No, that's just your own personal interpretation of "border security." A wall without security, by the way, would be useless. People would just tunnel under or climb over. Surely you've read about tunnels?
