While I agree 100% with the above, it's clearly not just the right wing/GOP that thinks this way.

Just look at how dismissive was Clare McCaskill and now, some in this thread.

People say they want change, progress, however one wants to characterize it, but when push comes to shove, many want to protect their own little fiefdoms more.
Doesn't matter what side of the aisle they claim.

Sad.

Hmm, probably because your daughter was genuinely interested in doing what was best for her class, and wasn't corrupted by millions of dollars of special interest contributions.

phenomenal idea???

Um we captured a bunch of Nazis that were smarter then us, Then our leaders conned us into this thing called the cold war and that we had to get into space to save the world from the Red menace. SOOOO we gave these X Nazis boatloads of money to build a big old rocket that some crazy airforce and navy guys wanted to ride on then they sent it to the moon....

Ortez-Kennedy?...

Who are you talking about?

Is it that difficult to write Ocasio-Cortez?

You seem to think name calling will take us into the future.
Here is why it is so funny:

More specifically, Ocasio-Cortez’s plan calls for, within 10 years, a series of lofty overhauls of American life [emphasis added]:
  • The installation of a “national, energy-efficient, “smart grid.”
  • Upgrading every residential and industrial building for state-of-the-art energy efficiency, comfort and safety”
  • Eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from the manufacturing, agricultural and other industries” as well as from America’s transportation and infrastructure network
  • Funding “massive investment” in reducing existing greenhouse gasses

1. Cortez has no idea how complex the power grid is and the massive amount of infrastructure and money needed to "install a smart grid". Estimates by the US Energy commission are that such an upgrade would cost $.5 trillion at the minimum. Like any construction project, usually estimates are far below actual costs on completion.

2. Are you kidding? Every residential and industrial building for state of the art energy efficiency? Let's see....................... that would be about $20K for every home in the US and about $100K (at a minimum) for industrial buildings. There are 125 million households in the US. So.............. just taking homes, it would cost 20,000 X 125,000,000 = 2,500,000,000,000. So $2.5 trillion for the homes.

There are 5.5 million commercial buildings/factories/industrial buildings. 5,000,000 X 100,000=

5,000,000,000,000. So $5 trillion for commercial buildings.

Thus we have $7.5 trillion for just the "energy efficient" upgrades, or double the total current US annual budget!!!!!!!!

3. Eliminating "green house gases" from ag, manufacturing and industry. First of all, we NEED MORE CO2, NOT LESS for a healthy planet. Terrification and "greening" of the planet is directly related to CO2 levels. Keep in mind that not only does our entire foodchain rely upon plants, but also O2 production and cooling of the earth's surface.

There is no "CO2 problem" in the first place.

However, if we could eliminate CO2 production, the COST OF EVERYTHING WOULD INCREASE DRAMATICALLY. Witness the widespread violence in Europe over a 45 cent gas tax. It is estimated that if the target CO2 "goals" of global CO2 reduction were met, gasoline in the US would cost $240 per gallon gasoline in the US by the end of the century!!!!!!!!!!!

The US produces 5 billion metric tons of CO2 every year just from the energy sector. A recent MIT study suggests that the cost of eliminating CO2 from US energy output is $500-$600 per metric ton.

5,000,000,000 X 500 = 2,500,000,000,000 So....................... another $2.5 trillion just for the energy sector, not including "industrial and ag outputs"!!!!! Just to be generous, lets call each one of those half as much as energy, so $1.2 trillion. That makes an additional $5 trillion per year to "eliminate CO2 emissions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So far we have $7.5 trillion for the energy efficient systems, $5 trillion annularly for CO2 emission elimination, $.5 trillion for an upgraded "smart energy grid" = $13 trillion

So unless Ms. Cortez has a big printing press in her new DC apartment that can generate over half of all the debt that the US has compiled in its entire history, perhaps she is "outkicking her coverage" and does not understand the impossibility of her liberal fantasy dreams and the destructive impact it would have on the average American.

Why does she need a printing press but the military doesn't? How are we going to pay for a wall?
