Hopefully they all quit!
What an abuse of power that entire deal is.
Blatant 4th Amendment violation.

Nobody believes the Democrats have any intention of negotiating on a border security package if the government shutdown is ended without it. They can't or won't even acknowledge there is a problem, much less one of any magnitude.

Further, no matter what Donald Trump does the left and the further-left media will continue to hammer away and stick their heads in the sand and ignore the atrocities that are happening every day. They love the status quo and have no intention of ever fixing anything.

Pelosi and Schumer came on last night and never once mentioned anything about the Americans that are harmed by illegal immigration. That is just willful ignorance by two of the most disgusting dirtbags in government.

prior to 9/11 the fedguv set min. standards for airport security, at the same time it told the airlines they were too big to fail by rewarding them with bailouts, subsidies and shielding them from lawsuits through legislation that protects them from any non passenger related damages they might incur (such as a plane crashing into a building). So yes the airlines did the min., and did so knowing they would be compensated/protected from failure, so why then would they do anything above and beyond what the gov required of them? An accurate assessment would be that the govt incentivized airlines to compromise security and 9/11 was an unfortunate outcome of such.
Tying the economic survival of the airline directly to safety is the best way to ensure it.

We will still see the caravans despite the wall.
President Trump put out a proposal for DACA and is on record as supporting a solution.
Nancy Pelosi is on record - saying that DACA is "off the table".

Pelosi told reporters on Thursday that pairing wall funding with a permanent solution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program was not on the table and that she would prefer Congress pass a continuing resolution for Homeland Security before Christmas. |Business Insider

Let us also remember that the Bill that Nancy is insisting on is ONLY a Continuing Resolution to kick this argument down the road for less than 30 days. She is playing games.

IF Pelosi really thinks the problems are that Drugs come through Ports of Entry -- CLOSE THEM.
IF Pelosi really thinks that VISA over-stays are the problem -- Stop the VISAS
IF Pelosi really thinks "walls don't work & are "Immoral" -- tear down those Immoral Walls in California.

IF Federal Workers are so concerned about their paychecks .... Call Nancy, she is the Obstructionist who is willing to throw them (and DACA kids) under the bus so SHE can "win" for her Political Ambitions for the 2020 Election.

Air Traffic controllers do well even in high cost of living areas. Either way this situation is purely Trumps ego and politics vs the Democrats not wanting him to get a political victory based on a stupid idea.

It's a game of political chicken that is hurting regular people. I guess you blame one side or the other if you are a partisan either way.

Miss one paycheck -> no money for anything and need to quit to work elsewhere

So rather than put the blame squarely where it belongs (people living beyond their means, paycheck to paycheck, on credit, no clue how to budget, no emergency fund, etc.) it's put on a president who had nothing to do with these people's complete lack of planning and preparedness

What a sad state of human affairs.

The president most certainly plays a role in those not getting paid. You can condemn people for not saving even a few hundred dollars but the reason they are not getting paid is not directly on them. I suppose you can blame them for voting for these immature beings in Washington.

The paperwork in Government is massive - I've been curious about something.
Did your wife have to sign anything when she went to work for the Federal Government that acknowledged and accepted that she would be subject to both InVoluntary and Voluntary Furloughs?

My guess is YES.

I was always aware before retirement that Strikes could force me into a Furlough and it happened several times (like almost every contract negotiation) -- you plan for these things because you KNOW they are not only possible, but likely.
