Takes a two-thirds vote in each Chamber to override a presidential veto.

Whether Republicans will stand with Democrats to end this shutdown remains to be seen.

This shutdown is all on the President, just as he clearly said it would be before it happened.

Veto override is not there.

If the senate passes this I doubt Trump will veto, he would look very foolish. The government needs to reopen this is just ridiculous pandering by Trump going on TV with the Homeland representatives claiming this is an immediate threat.

Regardless, standing by for a veto.

But the Senate won't pass it. McConnell has already stated that he, himself, won't bring such a bill to Trump for signature.

If it is so important to the Dems, which it isn't, to open the government back up then the Dems should put wall funding in the bill, but they won't because they don't care one bit about you, me or this country. They ONLY care about retaining power and control.

This is on the Dems. Add wall funding to the bill and they end the shutdown. They simply refuse to add the funding to show the lowest common denominator of their base that they're being "tough" on the President.

Dems keep saying the wall is "stupid" yet Border Patrol Agents and it's Union support it--instead of trying to play "tough" with Trump, how about asking the people who actually work on the border? That right there will give you your answer.

But this isn't any surprise...afterall, this is the same party who wants to get rid of ICE and minimize all of Homeland Security anyways.

Okay, forgive my ignorance, but is it just a matter of a House vote? Did the Reps vote for a shutdown, but now the Dems will push for a new vote? After all, our democracy is supposed to work to thwart a president who imagines himself to be a dictator.
I'm loving the shutdown...hope it last the entire next 2 years....which will keep Pelosi from crashing the economy and causing a global financial crisis like she did last time she was Speaker.

God knows why.
Because they are only paper bullets.

The politicians make a big deal about it. The news media makes a big deal about it. They are both trying to shape the opinions of the people, but in reality, most people dont really care about the shutdown.
