I haven't read the posts yet but as a legal, gun toting mama, I think the AR-15 and any assault weapon should be banned from public use. They are M I L I T A R Y weapons.

Haha! More misinformation. There is no such thing as an assault weapon. An AR15 is NOT a military weapon, it is a very popular modern semiautomatic sporting rifle.

You're very welcome for my help informing you better.

We already had a ban on this weapon and it was so ineffective and unpopular it was repealed in a bipartisanship fashion.

I'm not sure if it's intentional, but you're posting something that's quite misleading. The "AR-15" weapon for which you're proposing a congressional ban is not the gun that LeMay wanted the military to adopt, and it's never been used by the military. They're entirely different guns.

Not one single military uses the AR-15.

Liberals will reject facts when they don't fit the agenda. See Pelosi and AOC.

This is technically true, as far as I can tell, but very, very misleading. From America's paper of record, the estimable New York Times:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...shootings.html

Quote:
The main functional difference between the military’s M16 and M4 rifles and a civilian AR-15 is the “burst” mode on many military models, which allow three rounds to be fired with one trigger pull. Some military versions of the rifles have a full automatic feature, which fires until the trigger is released or a magazine is empty of ammunition.
But in actual American combat these technical differences are less significant than they seem. For decades the American military has trained its conventional troops to fire their M4s and M16s in the semiautomatic mode — one bullet per trigger pull — instead of on “burst” or automatic in almost all shooting situations. The weapons are more accurate this way, and thus more lethal.
So if anything, the AR-15 is more lethal than the military version.

I wish that more posters shared your compassion and common sense. Less than 20% so far vote to ban the AR-15.

What is the definition of assault weapon ? And not a military on the planet uses the AR-15.
