If we had 100% separation of church and state and 100% freedom of religion, civic laws would be 100% subordinate to whatever religious people and institutions have as their penal and civil laws.

Not in this country. Religion wouldn’t subvert rule of law, despite the fear-mongerer’s wishes.

To answer your question, no, they shouldn't be allowed to stone people to death or separate people from their appendages and/or head.
One especially not mentioned is "Honor Killings", of which I know of many cases adjudicated in Criminal Courts~~

.. This is why even Christian Faith followers, who commit crimes using their particular belief systems that contravene the LAW get prosecuted as well. i.e refusing medical assistance due to religious beliefs (Christian Scientists) as one example~~

Mosaic Law (Hebrew/Jewish) doesn’t apply to Christians. For more discussion regarding this go to religion forum.

Thank you.
This should be in the //www.city-data.com/forum/religion-spirituality/ forum.

Depends. Some Christians think Old Testament is just as valid now as it was before the New Testament. Heard it discussed many times back in my church days.

Please explain.

As for your original question, no, I think it's a bad idea. Much worse, in fact, than you do, apparently.
My reason for supporting cutting hands of thieves for serious theft has nothing to do with any religious belief or support of. It’s solely to crack down on theft and criminals because a person would think twice before robbing a bank or an elderly person.
