I was watching the well-known and legendary Mother Angelica, who was known for her work as a Catholic American nun in Alabama who created a religious television network called EWTN. I am not Catholic, but I was watching her because I remember watching some of her shows on faith and cultural issues.

One of my coworkers saw me watching it on my smartphone and started yelling at me, saying that Mother Angelica was too conservative. He hated her and said she was no friend of those who want to seek an abortion privately and peacefully.

Was she too conservative?

2001, wow. Remember when the Catholic Church was considered an institution that could provide useful input on matters of ethics and morality?

I don't know, nor do I really care.

Watch what you want and tell your co-workers to buzz off.

She hadn't been on the air for a long time but only passed away a few years ago. She was very conservative based out of Irondale, Alabama. Ahead of her time for Catholic figures with her use of tv. As expected very anti choice which I did not have so much of an issue with though I disagreed. She however often went overboard on other culture issues. I vividly remember her constant crusade against the 1988 film The Last Temptation of Christ. She railed against it and stated that it had the power to destroy souls. She became to me akin to the other crazy southern religious fanatics that used television to manipulate their followers in the name of "their" God.

Howard Stern used to pick on Mother Angelica something fierce.

Oh gosh, I remember Mother Angelica on television ( would occasionally see her when scrolling through channels). She was definitely hard line, old school conservative in doctrine. If she had been a teaching nun she would have been the type to rap a student really hard with a ruler.
