People know walls work and have for more than a thousand years.
Even the cavemen wanted walls and the caves were the easy solution. They seemed very happy with their cave walls and painted on them too.

Time to cut the crap talking point about walls not working. Everyone can see the reason the democrats don't want a wall is b/c they know it will work. Besides we are talking smart walls with Tech. surveillance and other detection measures. The real threat the democrats feel, is a smart wall replacing them or proving they are less smart than the smart wall.

Do you mean like California spending 23 billion per year on illegal immigrants?

And yet 50% of illegals are illegals hired by republican farmers. Go figure.

the only point to be made here is that these reps will serve their needs instead of doing what's best for the country.

This reminds me of the survey that showed that opposition to illegal immigration is strongest in homogenous small towns and rural areas that have the least contact with immigrants overall.

Fine. The wall can be constructed 100 yards NORTH of their districts.

The Republican Congressman along the border is Will Hurd who represents South Texas Big Bend area.
Doesn't have much to do with "farms" and oddly enough - the people in this District are mostly Democrats. It's been a swing District for years, but Hurd has now held it 3 terms in a row as a Republican (black Republican in a Hispanic District).

I certainly don't blame Hurd for being against a "fence" in his District -- a fair amount of Texas border is not really suitable for a "wall" - but the steel fence might actually work fairly well. Much of Hurd's district is the Big Bend and a lot of it forms it's own barrier -- lot's of Canyon a bare rock.

The main problem with a "wall" on the Texas border is that the ENTIRE Texas Border is the MIDDLE of the Rio Grande River (by Treaty). No way to put a "wall" in the middle of a River.
Add to that - not only did we fight and win a war over that River, but it is crucial for Water for that entire area. Bottom Line -- Nancy & Chuck & none of the Washington Elite Politicians on either side of the aisle have NEVER been serious about Border Security OR the issues on the Border in the last 10 years.

We know this because - during the last 10 years, not a single CongressCritter from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona was EVER included in any solutions with the exception of John McCain. Texas has 1/2 the Border between Mexico and the USA. They have to be involved - each area of Texas is different and has different conditions and needs.

Nothing that happened during the Bush, Obama and now Trump Presidency has shown "real solutions" -- it's mostly just political postering. Trump has concentrated on only ONE aspect ... Security.
Democrats have never been interested in Security - their interest is gaining more immigrant and making it easy for them to enter.

Listen to Pelosi ..... her favorite word is "comprehensive", which translates to "we have to pass it, before we can see what's in it".

It definitely is time to stop the lies that the president and his marks spout. The talking points about a wall working are indeed false. The talking points and fear mongering being used regarding that big beautiful concrete wall all across the southern border, that the president promised you via pesos, have become tiresome.

I do see some progress with your post, though. You appear to be moving to the Democrats' position of border security. I just don't think the not so subtle shift of talking points and attempt to conflate the cuckoo concrete wall with the sensible position of border security and who really is trying to be a part of the solution rather than the problem will work for you. Nice try...no cigar! Your guy has been real clear that he shut down the gov for the wall. Still wants it, far as I heard and saw, last night. I think he is still trying to convince us that Mexico is footing the bill.

The talking points got him and our country and 800,000 fed employees in the corner he so belligerently continues to defend.

So if you and he are moving to understand that border security is not a mythical campaign wall, why then won't he open the government while he tells us and Congress what sensible replacement for the Mexican subsidized wall he believes in and is willing to actually commit to? With this evolution and understanding you are now talking about, why are so many people being made to continue to financially suffer and be held hostage for The Wall?

OMG, turn on your TV if you are reading in real time... he is at this very moment embarrassing himself with a pitiful ongoing random thought, incoherent monologue of nonsense regarding the wall....it is apparent that he is humiliated by last night's fail! I don't think he knows to stop digging when he is in a hole. Oh, this is a train wreck, someone needs to pull him out of this fight/meeting he is televising.

Exactly! E-Verify would do wonders for getting rid of many illegals.

After all that logic I can see why a smart wall freaks out people on the left.
You don't need me moving closer to your position but an ambulance shouldn't be ruled out.
