And if so, under what circumstances? How would it change your life?
as a former police officer, their COULD have been times when shooting a person would be necessary.
my luck I never had to shoot anyone, but if it was necessary, I would have and it would not have changed me..... what is right, is right..........
changing the battlefield. during combat operations in Korea we all did a lot of shooting. Did we kill
many enemy soldiers ??? I don't know. I did not go out into no man's land to see how many of the
enemy were killed. I did not want to get killed. It did not bother me that I was still alive the next day......
Yes it’s in our dna put there as part of population control when we do it on a large scale we call it war and then make up reasons to explain its continuation and necessity which of course are baloney
While I cannot know definitively, having never been in the situation, my initial reaction is no. If I had children to protect my answer would likely change.
I don't think I could, even in self-defense. The guilt would probably drive me to suicide.
That would probably my answer too with (sad) modification : I think I might for someone else (especially children of course) in a "survival" type of situation but probably not for myself.
I don't really want to get into detail because it's a traumatic memory... But I was once in a life-threatening situation where I was preparing to have to fight and possibly kill someone to save myself. Thank god it didn't come to that. But in that moment, I felt something in myself I'd never felt before.
Some people freeze in those sort of situations, but I felt intensely focused and ready to act. I was totally fearless and felt no emotion, almost like being a robot or something. That's adrenaline I guess.
I don't think it would change my life in a bad way if I had to kill someone in a situation like that. I'd do it and I wouldn't be sorry, either. This is how I know I will survive the zombie apocalypse! lol
A bigger fear for me is killing someone on accident, like in a car wreck or something. THAT I think would destroy me.
Your post is one of the more interesting, and IMO, one of the honest responses.
What you experienced is the killer instinct.
Its something people are born with and others are born without.
Its not something that can be learned or taught.
It s a huge advantage if in a life and death confrontation.
It doesn't mean you would win the struggle due to the many variables but its a plus.
I could never in cold blood. But I would if I had no choice to protect my family. It's something I've put thought into since I conceal carry regularly.
In self defense and/or those I care for. I'll admit that I'd probably need some counseling after such an event.
I have never shed a tear eliminating varmints. Don't plan on starting now.
