Sean Hannity and Lou Dobbs convinced Trump and his aides to give the speech, Donald didn't want to do it. Trump also told reporters at a lunch yesterday that he felt the visit to the border today was a waste of time.
As Trump voters celebrate his "successful" speech last night, Donald Trump himself did not want to do the speech LOL.
Haaar! The U.S. of A. being run by Hannity and Dobbs; neither of whom have been elected. What a great system!
Subjecting them to the simple test of being officially named as advisors so all the people are aware and can express their approval or disapproval would be the normal step for a functioning administration.
Well, he wasn't wrong. Absent a transformational speech or some new facts/statistics of which the public and Democrats were unaware, nothing was going to change. Things are no different than they were yesterday. The Democrat rebuttal was equally ineffective. No minds were changed.
It just goes to show how dysfunctional this administration is.
Giving an address from the White House Oval Office is a very big deal. For example, John F Kennedy discussed the severity of the Cuban Missile Crisis, George W Bush discussed the 9/11 attacks, and Richard Nixon formally resigned as POTUS. All those speeches were done from the oval office, and all those situations were incredibly important to the American people.
But this morning we learn that the president himself, Donald Trump, did not even really want to give the speech last night, but conservative talking heads like Hannity & Lou Dobbs convinced KellyAnne Conway and Sarah Sanders that Trump should do it. And it showed in his body language, tone of voice, and facial expressions. He didn't really want to be there last night.
For what it's worth, I personally give Donald Trump some credit for last night, as he didn't lie nearly as much as I expected him to.
