But the facts are, illegal crossings have falling dramatically since 2000, with arrests on the southern border dropping over 50%. Over 1 million arrests were fairly normal from 2000-2006, but by 2009 had fallen below 500,000 and since then many years have had under 400,000 according to US Customs.

The DEA has stated that most of the drug flow coming into the country is coming through legal checkpoints hidden among legal items.

Several studies show that US citizens are far more likely to commit violent crimes than illegals. On top of that, violent crime in the US has gone down dramatically in the last 30 years, a 36% decrease from 1990 levels. Some might not think thats the case because traditional and social media outlets spread news of violent crime because it gets them a lot of attention.

So how bad is the situation at the border if:

-crossings are down 60%+ since 2000
-most drugs are coming through legal checkpoints
-violent crime is down substantially for the last 30 years and illegals are less likely to do it than citizens

Regardless of whether or not you support the wall, do you think the border is in chaos as Trump claims? Or do you think he is ratcheting up the rhetoric to try and build more support?

Another false claim is that terrorists are pouring over the Southern border, when the great majority of incidents are by native born Americans and the few from outside the USA come across other borders.

This is pure BS^^^^

All illegal aliens are criminals. They become criminals once they sneak across the border or overstay a visa. Yes, the first time doing so is a misdemeanor (which is still a crime) but subsequent times it's a felony.

Then, in order to work (which is illegal for them to do) they have to do one of the following: 1) commit ID theft; 2) Use a fake SSN (that fake SSN sometimes belongs to a living person, who like the ID theft victim gets put into a world of hurt); or 3) Get paid under the table, which is tax evasion.

To get to work in states that don't give licenses to illegals, they drive without a DL.:

Now, what were you saying about illegals not committing any crimes?

This evening the White House youtube channel should have today's visit by the President to McAllen TX. I watched the live "President Trump Participates in a Roundtable on Immigration and Border Security" and highly recommend watching it if you want to know facts and not media spin.

Local officials, Border Patrol officials, Sec. Kirsten Nielsen and ranchers spoke of their experiences and praised Sec. Nielsen by saying no other official in any other administration had paid so much attention to their plight nor had they visited as often as she has.

One rancher told of families of illegals banging on his door late at night, cold, thirsty, and hungry begging for help. They had been abandoned by their coyotes and didn't know where they were. He said the coyotes bring them across the border and then walk them in circles through the dense brush and take off. He also had women who'd been raped by coyotes who begged him to take them to the Border Patrol. He was a Christian and didn't turn them away.

The mayor of El Paso said that since his city got the barrier fence, illegal immigrants and crime rates have dropped significantly so don't believe left wing media who say walls don't work because he's experienced the fact that they do work very well.

I know Sean Hannity has an exclusive interview with Trump tonight at 9 ET / 6 PT

And people call Trump crazy?

James Carville suggested on MSNBC that whoever put together the Chuck and Nancy response to Trump would likely get yelled at at the next meeting.

IS 500,000 illegal crossing not a small number worthy of trying to stop?

Went to McAllen local news -- some interesting stuff. Did you know that city is ranked as the 7th safest city in the USA?
WOW -- - pretty good for a state of emergency center?

https://www.themonitor.com/2019/01/1...isconceptions/
McAllen, Rodriguez said, experienced its lowest crime rate in 34 years in 2018, and the city’s crime rate decreased for the ninth consecutive year — detailed data the police department plans to release late next week. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated three murders in 2018, also saw violent crime decrease.

Local judge pipes in withhis truth about the town referencing a visit from Bush in 2006.
https://www.themonitor.com/2019/01/1...e-border-wall/“Quite honestly, not much has changed since then,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez said Wednesday. “We continue to grow; our business with Mexico continues to grow; immigrants continue to come; drugs continue to come. So it’s just a continuation of the past.”

And it seems local officials would like the President to pay more attention to the port of entrys given their economi impact & the fact that most drug cartels use these entry ports for smuggling their drugs.
https://www.themonitor.com/2019/01/0...bridges-visit/Drug cartels prefer to smuggle contraband through the ports, they said, citing a report from U.S. Customs and Border Protection that indicated about 90 percent of drugs seized, including cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl are smuggled into the U.S. through the ports.

Makes you wonder why they would have chosen THAT community to visit.

- Border crossings mirror the US economy. A weak economy, means less jobs, less money & less illegals. A strong economy like today, means an uptick in illegals.

- The DEA is reporting the amount of drugs seized. No one debates we have more control at checkpoints. What no one knows, is how much is going across the border since we don't have the resources to catch them.

- A nonsensical argument since we don't get to choose which US citizens enter the country. We do get to choose which aliens enter the country. Still, there's a disproportionate % of illegals in our prison system. Not because they're illegals, but rather because they're poor, desperate, uneducated and come from violent backgrounds.

- Now some questions for you: How many illegals committing murder, would be too much for you? How many illegals raping people would it take to become a problem, in your mind? How many illegals kidnapping people, would be too many for your liking? How many overdoses thanks to drugs brought in from Mexico, would it require for you to care? How many women and children would have to be sex trafficked across our border, to alarm you?

Everybody living next to a wall knows they work. The contradiction is those who would have crossed but didn't due to the wall, just went elsewhere.

Speeding is a misdemeanor also. Obviously the poster was talking about serious crimes.
