18 years ago Walmart contracted with small local businesses that hired undocumented workers.walmart claimed it had no knowledge and agreed to settle and avoid prosecution.
A more recent and similar situation happened at some Target stores in some states. Last I read, Target was able to defend itself because it knowingly did not hire contractors who hired undocumented workers. Unlike, the legacy Walmart situation, Target contracts with janitorial businesses made clear the contractors’ obligations.
The small businesses that provided janitorial services to Target went out of business.
I can find no case where the federal government brought charges against Target. I saw where an illegal employer brought a lawsuit in Texas that Target settled. Do you have a link?
It was the Democrats that blocked e-verify the last time and it was the Republicans who presented the e-verify bill to congress. Get your facts straight!
S179 was introduced/ read once in January, 2017 and referred to Committee by McConnell
Republicans held the majority and a Simple Majority was all that was necessary to pass it. Took 10 months to acquire a total of 14 Republican sponsors, far short of the Simple Majority to pass it. There was never a vote.
Dick Durbin opposed it because it was similar to a Democrat bill sitting in Committee.
Politicians and the media that feeds off them blamethrough to avoid taking action. They have been doing so for nearly 35 years as it relates to illegal immigration. That’s no accident.
It's also utter BS that conservatives/Republicans don't want e-verify and to punish the employers. I certainly do and just about every conservative forum member in here has stated as such also! How can that poster openly lie in here when we can all read the posts for the truth?

He will never take off the partisan glasses. That is clear.
Actually, it was the Dems in the Senate that blocked any possibility of an e-verify mandate passing. They wouldn't provide the extra votes needed to get to 60 for cloture.
Republicans could not get a Simple Majority despite being the majority.
There was no filibuster.
The WH dropped its call to mandate eVerify during the DACA drama, last year.
McConnel does not push for anything Trump won’t sign.

Not in the Senate. It takes 60 votes for cloture before a bill can even be presented for a simple majority vote. 14 Republicans co-sponsored the bill. There were no Dem sponsors. So... where were the Dem votes needed to get to 60 going to come from?
I love how, when confronted with someone who actually will build The Wall, the Democrats are suddenly all about eVerify. Their representatives could see no reason to implement eVerify in the past, but NOW, it is the answer to everything.
Build The Wall. The only thing better than a 10 foot fence is a 30 foot wall.

14 cosponsors out of 51 Republican Senators does not compute.
It was redundant of a Democrat bill that failed to gain any traction with Republicans.
That the WH withdrew its support for eVerify during DACA negotiations probably did not help.
Politicians blamethrow to hide their ability to not act.
Why haven’t Florida and Texas acted?
