Your link says: "Average Teacher Salary $75,000"

The total compensation of $100K includes various benefits. While that's nice, heath care and vacation benefits do not pay the rent.

In CA a lot of the problem is due to school administrators making a small fortune. I think I read somewhere that now in the system it works out to one administrator hired per teacher hired. Meanwhile the kids get dumb and dumber and drop out.
You think? That is your argument?

That is $611 of compensation per day.

The teachers union is also upset that they might increase class sizes up to 46 students per teacher.

They get summers off, lots of paid-holidays and long breaks also. It ends up being about
The average salary in LA public schools: $63,761 as of 12/31/2018. The range is $55,667-73,609.

There are thousands of micro economies in the US Wage is meaninglessless what matters is what the wage will buy in the local economy.

As I noted above, they aren't making $110K, they're making $75K.

You’re an Arizonan...instead of worrying about California, you need to worry about the low performing schools in your state (which is also my state). Step your game up and quit whining. Worry about why Arizona schools are at or near the bottom.
I don't live in Arizona currently.

This is how state of the art, luxurious and resort-like some of the public schools like in Arizona.

at LAUSD, seems like they have a big rat problem in the schools.

The school that has the rat problem, looks outdated and run-down.

I like how in Arizona there are lots of micro-districts so parents can choose which district is right for them. I don't have children, but venture to guess the schools in Fountain Valley, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler are far better then the vast majority of the ones in failing LAUSD.

But having lived in Gilbert, I would venture to guess the average child who is raised in Gilbert has a far brighter future than the average child who goes to LAUSD.

I don't have any children myself but if I did the quality of public schools in Gilbert and Scottsdale is far superior to a vast majority of LAUSD schools.

The teachers don't understand that the reason why they have up to 46 students per class is because of the $110,000 average compensation packages.

46 students per class is a recipe for outbreaks of disease that spread throughout the community. Many LAUSD students also live many families to a house.

That is over $80 per instructional hour or $611 per day.

What is it about the average wage being $63,761 in an area with a high cost of living?

The average class size is 26.

Do you have a problem with the average teacher pay in Alaska being $73,050, plus the $1600 per person dividend paid by the state regardless of contribution?

The compensation package is $110,000 on average with the benefits.

If LAUSD teachers want lower class sizes then they can have them with the same budget if they got paid the same as they did in Oklahoma or West Virginia.

If LAUSD teachers care about lower class sizes that aren't packed with up to 46 students then they should be bargaining for the same wages as West Virginia and Oklahoma.

How many more times do I need to point out that health care and vacation leave, while nice, don't pay the rent? Thus, the total compensation is irrelevant to their claims. Their claim is that the $75K aveerage wages are too low, which is arguably true in a city like LA.
