Obviously it is a College Football Team and not a high ranking official visit, but still.
Trump has a fancy hotel down the street. The hotel has a restaurant. He could have had the White House kitchen staff recalled and paid them. There are plenty of restaurants in DC. There were plenty of better options. This was just tasteless and tacky.
I understand the switchboard operators are furloughed as well. Apparently, WH staff is not considered essential to national security.
In any case, the POTUS and his family always pay for their own food. They get a bill every month for the cost of the ingredients.
Yeah, I know. I think I was aware of that long ago, but I also remember it being discussed 'in the public square' at the beginning of the Obama administration when racist people were spouting off thinking that the taxpayers had to pay for Mrs. Robinson's food in the White House.
The best part? Individual 1 paid for it out of his own pocket. It kind of makes sense now, doesn’t it?
Haha, that's terrific ! So fitting to see Trump there drooling. Wonder if he personally drove the limo to the drive thru...……." I'll have 100 Big Macs, hold the onions. Give me 100 fries, YUGE size, and one chocolate chip cookie for the ride home, er, make that 4 chocolate chip cookies and one kiddie meal. "
Most of the players entering the draft did not attend, as they've already left school and are training for the combine.
Not that anyone will care, but this info a politician posted on twitter is also relevant:
I assume that the food was ordered ahead. Even fast food places often expect advance payment for huge orders, so I am not sure why that makes them necessarily more anonymous than any other establishment.

Tasty and tacky eh? How about real American values. I think it's an absolute waste of taxpayers dollars to host fancy feasts. I've seen the menus and the majority of Americans can't afford to eat that high offa the hog. Why should our tax dollars go to pay for this kinda stuff that's just gonna be cast off in the dung pile 12 hours later?
