But yet for some reason, some people will think this thousand year old extremist ideology will be defeated with some troops illegally occupying some corner of a country.

So, what is your fix ? If we just idly sit by, and let the events of that area shape themselves, ISIS and whatever the next extremist group that comes along, will only get stronger. We didn't ask for this engagement, it was them who came onto OUR soil and flew OUR airplanes into those buildings. That was a wake up call for us that they were not just going to fight their little battles over there and leave us alone.

We had no choice but to get involved, if we hadn't you would be seeing more 9/11's right on our doorstep.

If withdrawal from Syria is difficult Afghanistan will be multiple times worse, worse than even Vietnam because the Taliban will exact a toll on those who supported us. This is a terrible story for the families of the US soldiers and Trumps grandstanding has backfired and probably given more courage to ISIS and other radical elements.

I get a kick out of the exit from Syria .... but DECLARE VICTORY? REALLY
- if Assad still is in power
- Russian forces remain
- Israel certainly sees no win in it

ISSIS wasn't the only reason and weakened much for sure. But just a quagmire to have Russian forces not on the same team fighting there.

Russia wins in Assad remains THEIR PUPPET AND MAIN INFLUENCE in the region that certainly remains to spread.

I'm merely for the withdrawal as no winning but for a weakened ISSIS and giving Russia a power-hold in the region that we will be doing. Really, no win in the Middle-East but for ISSIS that was still lost .... with their leader being killed under the Obama administration. That truly brought their weakening and claims to their defeat today.

You'll have to better define "liberals" here. You might be on to something, or not.

Oh, as far as ISIS:

"The CRS report quoted a Defense Department spokesman, Cmdr. Sean Robertson, as saying ISIS is probably as dangerous as al-Qaeda in Iraq was at its peak in the mid-2000s.

CRS report, Sept. 25, 2018: Defense Department officials assess that the Islamic State “is well-positioned to rebuild and work on enabling its physical caliphate to re-emerge,” and “probably is still more capable than Al Qaeda in Iraq at its peak in 2006-2007, when the group had declared an Islamic state and operated under the name Islamic State of Iraq. …”"

So, Mission Accomplished because it is MORE dangerous than Al Qaeda????

Hey, if Trump wants to get out of the entire ME I'm all for it. But don't lie to me or the American people about it. Say it.....
It seems Trump is no different than Bush or Obama. He does what he is told here.

Ron Paul on Trump:

"he is different from so many Republicans who want us to be everywhere all the time around the world. They want us to be the world policeman, that every war on the planet we have to have our soldiers involved with.

President Trump said he was going to treat America first. I think bringing some of that money home, whether it goes towards border security or building bridges or roads in our country."

So, in two years, how much has our military budget went down and how much was invested into our infrastructure? It seems to me that we borrowed MORE money, something that would seem to be the opposite of bringing money home.

Oh, and Trump DID put us into Syria in terms of boots on the ground and a big way.
NO, he did not. Obama did.

Quote:
"The US missile strike on the Shayrat Airbase conducted on 7 April 2017, was the first time the US has become a deliberate direct combatant against the Syrian government,[126] and marked the start of a series of deliberate direct military action by the U.S. military against the Syrian government′s and pro-government forces in May–June 2017 and February 2018.

How soon you forget. Syria is Trumps deal...

"In mid-January 2018, the Trump administration indicated that it intended to maintain an open-ended military presence in Syria to counter Iran's influence and oust Syrian president Bashar Assad.[128] In early September 2018 the United States started to implement a new strategy that indefinitely extends the military effort"

Reality may sometimes be a hard pill to swallow, but never the less it is real. Trump has shown himself to be a warmonger - going into new countries, celebrating the sale of arms to the Saudis, etc.

And NONE of the money has come home to America First.

Summary- Pence and Trump Mission Accomplished is BS.
Of course it is BUT it is not something they should have dealt with to start with.

Nobody there supports us.

What politicians are finding out the hard way is that wars are much easier to start than end. Campaign promises meet reality. The strategy of HW Bush in the gulf war becomes greater with each passing day.
