Federal taxes and benefits are the difference between civil union and marriage. One marriage certificate is less work than the piles of paperwork and searching to find benefits that a couple would need to do, some of which are just not available without marriage.

As a notary public, Trump is authorized to perform wedding ceremonies. Few couples are that connected, but maybe they could get Pence to do it.

can you give me scripture?
I recall none where God explicitly denounces gay marriage.

We should be able to vote with our feet.

California seems to be a prime example of socialist/progressives doing exactly that. Millions of them have flooded the state while the state has lost millions of conservatives.

THAT is why Trump was elected. So many liberals left their states to head west and the electoral college was weighted against them.

THAT is exactly why the left is now attacking the electoral college.

THAT is why the left is trying to break that state up into three states.

THAT is why they are outraged over asking what the status of a person is in the census. They want illegals to be counted and represented. In a sense, all illegal aliens do vote by virtue of representation.

They only care about figuring out how to get back the leverage they have lost over the last two decades.
Excellent post!

I am 100% apathetic to what people do with their own lives as long as it in no way obligates, harms or otherwise initiates force against me. Since 2 people of the same gender getting married does not obligate, harm or otherwise initiate force against me, I could not care less about it.

I do think government should remove itself entirely from the business of marriage, since it is a voluntary, private contract between some number of people, and government has no need to be involved in it in any way, shape or form.

And PS, I did not vote for Bad_Orange_Man or Felonia von Pantsuit.

Not really a Trump supporter, but the aggressively biased agenda that democrats have had the past couple years has me defending Trump more often than not on various issues. My political views are centrist, however.

I have zero qualms about same sex marriage. As far as I'm concerned, you're a human, I'm a human... that's really all there is to it.

If one doesn't want government involved in marriage/divorce (benefits) why not just dont get legally married since it is voluntary. A couple can just have a ceremony, religious or otherwise and be "married".

Most people do want the protections and benefits that come with government sanctioned marriage and any subsequent divorce, thats why they get "married".

Government should not meddle in voluntary, private contracts. Not in any way, neither beneficial nor detrimental. Period.

There are many in the Old Testament (you can find them online).

But 2 that are in the New Testament are:

Romans 1 24-27

1 Timothy 1 10

So?

"What the bible says" is irrelevant outside the context of your church, your house, your life. The bible is not the basis of lawmaking in this country.

If you think the bible forbids gay marriage don't get gay married.
