There once was a time when the SOTU was a printed document instead of a televised speech before Congress. At some point it has become a forum for the party of the president to put on a show of support by standing and clapping every point the president makes while the opposing party remains seated looking grim and never applauding to show opposition to the sitting president merely because he belongs to the opposing political party.

Would you want the SOTU to return to a published document released to the press and public or do you want it to continue to be a televised cheerleading rally?

No skin off my back if it's televised, but honestly? I would probably pay more attention if I read it.

Print. I have a 3D TV and I just don’t need that much orange overload. Maybe he can just tweet it out.

I want it televised and I want someone to shout out "You lie", we need a lot more of that.

I don't watch it -- I absolutely hate the whole show.

I don't watch if it is a Democrat or a Republican.

I hate the canned applause, the use of victims for political gains, hate it all.

I read the transcript once it is released to the press.

It's a joke. It's tacky -- it's crass, rude, brassy --- yes no matter who is President.

I kept the topic neutral because both political parties do this and I find it sickening no matter who is president nor which party is in power. I would prefer all members of Congress shut up, remain seated, and hold all applause until AFTER the speech is complete.

Sounds like you’re for print then too.

Comic book form or something along the lines of Dr. Suess illustrated cartoons. Keeps it to the attention span and reading level of most.
