I don't care if someone wears these hats, but I understand why people react negatively to them.
If you don't understand why, you have not been paying attention for the last 3-4 years.
Whatever original intent the hats had in the very beginning have been destroyed by Trump's caustic messaging. They're now a symbol of that (mostly hateful) rhetoric.
Considering the left's inability to articulate why exactly the hat is a symbol of hateful rhetoric and racism, I'm pretty sure they really don't understand at all. They're just parroting the talking points spoon fed to them by the progressives in power, and the media.
Look, I get that none of the kids assaulted anyone, and I also don't know why the Natice American dude has to get into the thick of it hanging his drum; not something I would do. Not saying anyone needs to go to jail.
But you can't look at the video of those kids - not just the dude standing in front of the drummer - and say they acted maturely and in the example of Christ per the teachings of the Catholic school they were from. They were quite belligerent and confrontational as well. That's below the bar of behavior that adults should expect from their youth.
But given the example set by this President and sanctioned by conservatives, adult standards of behavior are clearly out the window already.
The whole thing makes me wonder where the hell the teachers and chaperones were while this was going down - taking a smoke break? I mean, come on.

I've already explained it. It has come to represent Trump's rhetoric, mostly hateful and angry in nature.
So do you advocate physically assaulting children that wear hats you don't like?
no one physically assalted those teens.
Having worked with teens , I recognize a smirk as different with a different meaning. Those children WERE mocking out the lone TRUE AMERICAN!
Wearing a Trump hat does get a negative response! I hold the so called adult chaperones responsible for this negative encounter.
This is an honest response but working for many years with high school age teens,I have discovered that teens in private schools, even religious ones , tend to be more obnoxious , tend to act more privileged , and have less empathy for others not like them and often are NOT TAUGHT how to behave around those different from them.Their negative behaviors are often ignored or dismissed by both parents and educators
