And BTW, starting with Thomas Jefferson and up until Woodrow Wilson, the POTUS gave the SOTU in a letter, not a speech.

1. Trump is a counter-puncher. Slap Pelosi: letter that Trump might not be able to give the SOTU at the Capitol due to security. Counter-punch Trump: no more military airplanes for you (last minute no less). Slap Pelosi: letter that Trump can't get the SOTU until the government is re-opened. You don't think President Trump will counter-punch BIGLY?
2. If the SOTU won't happen in the capitol, Trump can tell the entire nation with a real-life example what politics the Democrats are playing. It makes them look petty.

I really, truly think this is a terrible move for Pelosi and the Dems.

You Trumplings really don't get it, do you? No one who isn't already in thrall to Trump thinks he looks anything but foolish with all of this. A normal President would concede that it makes complete sense to not give a SOTU when the government is in a partial shutdown and millions of people are affected by a loss of income for over a month now.

And we think Trump being a counter puncher is just a politically correct way of saying he's a freaking bully, the kind of person good parents desperately hope and pray our children won't be, and won't be attacked by. I can only assume the people condoning his behavior were bullies themselves as children.

As Nancy helplessly tries to ward off the President with her big, cartoon sized gavel.

Both. The Letter was formal and the only constitutional binding act.... Jefferson made a speech to Congress in the house chamber, after invitation. Stating it was a waste of time and it was best to read it so it could be absorbed before a hasty not thought out rebuttable.

Radio and TV changed it to be the normal, for the people to hear it.

Sorry about that. I don't normally jump the gun, or deliberately try to post sensationalized new articles. There's just so much stuff coming out faster and faster, and going on from every direction, it's getting even harder to figure out what's true, what's confused, and what's out and out lies.
That headline was deliberately misleading, and you reacted exactly the way they wanted you to in response to that deliberate subterfuge. Unfortunately, we see that a lot here, where people don't seem to read past the headline of stories they post, and thus misstate the entire gist of the article they're posting about.

Kudos to you for posting this when you realized you had done this. I give you a lot of credit for doing so.

On this day in 1862, President Abraham Lincoln addresses the U.S. Congress and speaks some of his most memorable words as he discusses the Northern war effort.

According to the National Archives, George Washington first fulfilled this particular presidential duty on January 8, 1790, when he addressed the new Congress in the Senate Chamber of Federal Hall in New York City (then the U.S. capital). But Thomas Jefferson, the third president, chose to give his annual message to Congress in writing rather than make the trek to the Capitol—kicking off a tradition that would last nearly a century.

In 1913, Woodrow Wilson decided to buck that tradition. Shortly after his inauguration, Wilson went to Capitol Hill to make a speech about tariffs, becoming the first president since John Adams to presume to address Congress directly, on its own turf...

fake news from a trump supporter what else is new.

The data released by trump's own admin says the WEALTH GAP is bigger than ever....

Trump's tax scam has made the wealthiest richer than ever, tje tax scam has defunded the fed leaving no money for WALLS, or general infrastructure ..

Trump's trade war has spiked inflation and is hurting people all around the nation, political affiliation does not insulate any of us from Trump's ego driven Trade policies. Trump's shut down is throwing the nation into recession. Trump made a fool of the US by making concessions to Kim and giving NK a massive political victory over the US.

The holders of capital are the winners under Trumpism, not you , not me, not anyone posting here. Trump is a globalist and even you can't deny that....
