I can take or leave the Redskins name, it's not going to affect my life either way. In the NBA the Washington Bullets name was changed way back in 1997 to the Wizards..... I can't imagine the Redskins name is going to survive too many more years.

I don't like the skins anyway. How about Washington Pale Faces? I doubt many white people would take offense to that.
Or a more apt mascot for the Washington DC crowd might be "Thieves" or "Carpetbaggers".
I could get behind and support any one of those teams.

It wouldn't be a football season without this discussion. Has been going on for years.
The Patriots played the Chiefs the other night and I was very surprised that in this day and age that the people in the stands were still doing the tomahawk chop and chanting like Indians.
I see teams that have Native American names as trying to convey a sense of pride and strength but I'm sure that somewhere out there the likes of Elizabeth Warren are very upset.

Actually the Chiefs were named after a KC mayor (H Roe Bartle) whose nickname was the "Chief". The fans took it the rest of the way.
