It was not even attempted. Not a single instance of bringing it up and Democrats refusing to go vote for cloture.

It also could have been done through budget reconciliation.

This has been explained dozens of times on this thread and others.

You got a ways to go to live up to the "informed" part of your name.

Boom.

"Purposely disingenuous"

Get a clue. Congress doesn't waste time when they know they don't have the votes unless they're doing it for "show" to make Americans think they actually earn their salary plus benefits plus perks. What do you think the Whips do? Keep track of the votes and let the legislative leaders know what's going on.

Remember the nearly 400 R-sponsored bills Reid tabled in the Senate? That's because he knew there wouldn't be 60 votes for cloture.

The answer : Its a BS talking point and solution to nothing.
You're thinking of the Stockholm Syndrome where the supposed victim runs into the hands of their kidnappers and even robs a bank or two with them. An easy enough confusion for one such as yourself to suffer from.

Trump is the one who set this in motion and the one who admits to being proud to have done so. He ain't no hostage, he's the kidnapper.

The shutdown will continue until President Trump gets funding from Congress for the Mexican Border Wall.

Nobody wants hordes of illegal migrants pouring into the United States from third world countries into perpetuity.

It is that simple.

The Dems lied to Reagan for amnesty. What sane person doesn't think they'll lie again to Trump for extended protection for DACA/TPS?

Dems made their bed. Now, they're complaining about having to lie in it. Too bad. Suck it up.

So what you’re saying is that the repugs wouldn’t bring a bill to the floor to make a political point against the dems? Riiiigghht.

"If Trump Gets a Ransom"

Just like the MSM, over hype EVERYTHING.

It is the job of CONGRESS to pass bills the president can sign.

Where is the bill for the REQUIRED budget that pelosi and her dems passed so Trump CAN sign it?

"it takes at least 2 to negotiate.

Pelosi wanted to leave the county for a week and NOT sit down for a compromise.

Trump has laid down a number, where is pelosi's and shumer's counter numbers?

Looks like both pelosi and shumer don't care about gov't workers also.

Yeah but everyone who has cognitive reasoning skills is aware "the wall" is just a placebo for a numbnutz base not using the brains god gave them:

And since you like simplicity; the wall didn't stop them (didn't even slow them down) the infra-red technology enabled their capture.

This is actually a great opportunity to trim our bloated government. It's a start to transitioning more of fed gov's non-Constitutionally-mandated functions to privatization. That makes all the sense in the world because instead of some having to fund services for all, users will pay. Use a little; pay little. Use a lot; pay a lot. Exactly how real estate tax, utilities, toll roads, etc., work: users pay.
