Probably every presidential candidate in the future, is going to have to promise to never shut down the government.

This is precisely why I dont want to see Trump cave. The con job the Democrats pulled in the 80s is a good reason to not trust the Democrats today.

If the wall wont work, build it anyway and then hang the failure on Trump. The money being asked for is peanuts compared to some of the other waste in the federal government. I'd almost bet a decent accountant could find ten billion that could be used and hardly anyone would notice.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democrats need to demonstrate they are trustworthy and will honor a deal they make. At this point, they have not.

It's not acceptable to make people work without pay. SHAME ON YOU.
Shame on me? Because I'm calling out an obvious lie? These employees are not slaves. That was the point of my post. If you want to keep making emotional arguments, suit yourself. Just dont be surprised when a lie gets called out.

You do realize there are a good number of those on the right who love the shutdown?

At least until Medicare and Social Security checks are late.

They are forced to work for no pay or choose to forfeit their job. That's not a lie and by any measure you might come up with, it's social penury.. ie... a form of slavery!

BS. The IRS does that to 55% of all US 1040 filers every year. (Yes, you read that correctly... 45% of all US 1040 filers pay no federal income tax whatsoever.)

Here, depending on your income group, is how long, on average, your forced slavery is:

Top 1%: 3.23 months/year
Top 1-5%: 2.30 months/year
Top 5-10%: 1.68 months/year
Top 10-25%: 1.28 months/year
Top 25-50%: 0.94 months/year
Bottom 50%: 0.44 months/year

Average Effective Federal Income Tax Rate by Income Group

Here, depending on your income group, on average, is your effective federal income tax rate (average income, 50%-ile, is $40,078):

Top 1%: 26.9%
Top 1-5%: 19.2%
Top 5-10%: 14.0%
Top 10-25%: 10.7%
Top 25-50%: 7.8%
Bottom 50%: 3.7%

They don't attempt what they know won't pass cloture. It's a waste of time. Get a clue.

Exactly. Trump asked and Pelosi already said, "no." It's on her. Pelosi has no problem throwing DACA/TPS under the bus. She and the Dems hate Trump more than they care about US citizens and legal residents. They're letting their emotions overrule any attempt at rationality. That's mentally weak.

If you really believe that, domestic violence should be top priority before border security. Many more Americans are the victims of violence by their own spouses and significant others than illegal immigrants.

Tax is tax. The above is deliberately stilted to show a false picture. Payroll and state taxes count.
