The question isn't just about having Russian made technology, it's whether Turkey with it's increasingly close relationship with Putin's Russua can be trsyted with western technology and secrets.

Russia has proven more than capable over the years (along with China) of getting those secrets directly from us.
It's funny hearing people actually use the word dictator for someone throwing journalists in jail somewhat correctly....as opposed to using it when journalists can trash the president and then drive home to their mansions on a daily basis.
Almost makes it seem like the term gets abused huh?

So putting someone in jail for opposing certain views and islamic doctrine is correct.
As for Erdogan he's gradually eroding Turkish demicracy and taking the country away from a long held secular legan and political system to that of Islamic Law.
Given that we already have defence pacts with the Australians and New Zealanders, and that wrfare is now moving in to new realms such as Cyber and Space which have no borders, wouldn't it be a good idea to bring these countries and their expertise in to the fold rather than having seperate defene pacts.
The UK has the five powers defence pact which consists of the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia, and the US has numerous defence pacts outside of NATO.
In terms of the anglosphere countries and trusted countries such as Japan and Singapore, I am all for greater defence ties, indeed it makes more sense to have close ties with these countries than a lot of other countries.
I have no problem with a defense pact with Australia, New Zealand and Japan. As you pointed out we already do. My point is that that area of the world has different threats which make the focus of those alliances different. The Australians are not going to be worried about Russians. The Chinese are a far more real threat there. NATOs mission just does not make sense in the Pacific. The US is both an Atlantic and Pacific power and we have interest in both regions. I was not suggesting we don’t involve ourselves with the suggested nations, on the contrary I think we should. I’m just not sure NATO is the way to do it.
