No. Just general anti-intellectualism. From anti-vax nonsense to climate change. Just refusing to believe experts, scientists, academics, etc simply because they challenge your world view.
"Anti-intellectualism is hostility to and mistrust of intellect, intellectuals, and intellectualism commonly expressed as deprecation of education and philosophy, and the dismissal of art, literature, and science as impractical and even contemptible human pursuits. Anti-intellectuals present themselves and are perceived as champions of common folk—populists against political and academic elitism—and tend to see educated people as a status class detached from the concerns of most people, and feel that intellectuals dominate political discourse and control higher education." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-intellectualism
We're not winning the next space race or next big technological shift with that sentiment becoming more pervasive.
Yes, exactly ^^^^.
The middle ages was an era in which science was rejected in favor of the view pushed by the Catholic church. It was called the dark ages for a good reason, human progress ground to a halt. The current anti-science position of the right is pushing us back to the dark ages in which science is suppressed in favor of the "right" view, which is whatever the demagogues like Trump say it is. In the middle ages people fervently adhered to church doctrine, just like now the MAGA loonies buy into whatever Trump says.
There is no one truly greatest threat to the USA and the world than the 1% whose greatest ally is the Donald. He is the antagonist to world war because he does their bidding. Anything to make the rich richer including himself.
I would say its our inability to work together for the common good. We have natural resources, stable system of government, an educated and talented workforce and until recently a lead in world politics. Missing is the ability to recognize those that divide us for what they are.
The issue of people of different views/backgrounds working together is a huge issue. However, the biggest threats are SJW liberal and conservative nagging mothers-in-law.
The missing answer is......US.
We are our own worst enemy. By FAR. Not even close. The Russians are a Gnat, the Chinese likely could be some of the best friends we ever had.
The enemy is what is currently called conservatism. That does't connote a political party but rather a backwardness, meanness, greed and lack of focus on anything in the future.
I am of the opinion that the greatest threat to America is far too many people (left, right, democrats, republicans, socialists, communists, greens or even those folks in the polka dot party) who seek to use their vote to impose their will, beliefs, morality and dictates upon society, trying to dictate how others should live regardless if their chosen lifestyle does not encroach upon the rights or property of another.
The Declaration of Independence spells out the proper role of government which is to protect our rights yet so many people think that the US is a democracy, where the 51% mob rules, rather than a constitutional republic where there are limits placed upon government by the respective federal and State Constitutions. These limits, enumerations of the respective Constitutions (if you will) say what the government is limited to do.
Then candidate Barack Obama complained about how limiting the respective Constitutions were and how they tied the hands of the government, dictating what limited power it had, rather than granting government the power and authority to say what it (the government) can do FOR you.
I am of the opinion that regardless of the intent of the laws and regulations written, 99% of them are unconstitutional. If there isn't a specific enumeration on the subject in the respective constitution, and if what a person chooses to do or not do does not encroach upon the rights or property (cause harm to) of another, it should be none of anyone's business what they do.
Along this same thought process, I have to give credit to the wording used by Fredrick Bastiat in the following quote:
Quote:
"The state is that great fiction by which everyone tries to live at the expense of everyone else.”
This is equally destructive and will be one of the major nails in the coffin of this nation when, not if, it fails.
So, as for me... I choose LIBERTY!
But that's just MY opinion.

Members of Dem and Rep congress are elected by the people of the USA. They are therefore representatives that your fellow Americans voted into office. Criticizing them is like criticizing democracy. You've got to respect both sides rights.

For the people, by the people seems like a joke now. A lot of these reps only care about themselves and their quest for power, hence they don't want to do anything that might hurt their chances for re-election.
It's ridiculous that they get paid six figure salaries, tons of perks and yet can't even handle a basic job of getting a budget together and running the government. If they were CEO of any company, it will crash and burn within months. I wouldn't trust them to run a lemonade stand.
Trump can’t even take a fart without some Hawaiian judge issuing an injunction. Somehow he’s the biggest threat???
By far, the media is. Had the media simply reported the facts and truth, Democrats would never win another election.
