It is bad enough with drunks on the road so the last thing I want is nodding off dopers driving. Or raising kids. And if it is legal, there will be more users. The only thing keeping many users off drugs is the threat of being locked up.

The only way I would be OK with legalization is if all the dopers were put in a fenced compound and not let out. Just throw the drugs over the fence.

I still maintain that this is a brilliant idea. 90% of health care costs due to ingestion of harmful substances? Just tax the harmful substances and put the money towards heath care. And since when you tax something, you get less of it, this would reduce the use of harmful substances of all types.

It could even be applied to such things as motorcycles and guns.

We could use the implanted chips (as they do in Sweden), which IIRC I found out about after I wrote this thread!
