I can't speak for anyone but myself with any authority. Can you?

It really doesn't matter what you or I think of Alexandria. If she satisfies her voters and wants to run again for office in 2 years, that's all that will count for her and for them. Obviously, her voters thought she was a better choice than the long-term incumbent. That's all I really know about her, her history and her motivations. Anything else is empty speculation.

I don't have any opinions on her yet other than she's being quite loud and has been getting a lot of attention, but neither are anything new with freshman Representatives. There's some loud newcomer in every batch of them every 2 years. Some go as fast as they came, others don't. Some make a big splash while they're in Washington, others don't.

I expect by this time next year, I will have some opinions on her and her performance, but even then, mine still won't count for squat, as it's very unlikely I'll ever have a chance to vote for her or not.

You might wish to do some basic research before stating something like that.

I’ll revise my statements above to state now that “there are apparently some graduates of low-ranked law schools and who cannot get better jobs who work as bartenders”. That’s not my world, I will concede.

My only problem with Trump is he is too mainstream compared to his 2016 campaign (which I loved). I'm definitely not repulsed by him. The only Republican who ever truly repulsed me was John McCain although Lisa Murkowski is starting to get to that level.

Even if I am far to the right I kind of like AOC..She reminds me of Trump..not in ideology but in personality...she is outspoken and attention seeking...I find those to be attractive qualities in a politician...better than being some non-offensive moderate who tries to be all things to all people.

All one has to do is look at the policies she backs to know shes off her rocker and a loser. Since when has any big government or socialist policy EVER worked?

Please tell me that there are staunch Republicans who are also turned off by these people.

2. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be photogenic, but her only policy proposal seems to be "gimme free stuff", without thought for the consequences. Plenty of other Democratic leaders seem to care only about fighting based on ethnicity and grabbing free stuff.

If there are none, we're doomed.

I agree with everything you said. I am a Republican and I too am disgusted by trump and his cohorts but I felt that way about him for almost 40 years .It was ok to do when he was a Democrat people forget he is a turn coat!

As for OC I will give her a chance being new and young but some Dems might want to teach her a few things.

Anyone who is a "staunch" anything, is either a moron or a political-operative.

The choice was between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. You made the right choice.

If the Democrats continue to roll out scumbags and stupid people, Trump can be president-for-life for all I care.

People don't vote for a president to be their friend. They vote for a president to get things done. Politicians aren't buddies, they are weapons.

AOC is smart, she just doesn't know anything. Trump is smart, but he doesn't know anything.

I would probably rather spend a Thanksgiving dinner with AOC than Donald Trump. She is more-likable. But her career in politics won't last long if she refuses to play politics with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

Politics is the art of power. It is a cynical game, and we have to play it.

I'm an independent who did not vote for Trump and never will vote for Trump. I would not vote for AOC either. I don't support far left or far right agendas. There is no room for centrists.

Cortez seems very immature to me. She is young. Her responses, from what I've seen, aren't well thought out. She's very idealistic. When you talk off the cuff, you seem kind of kooky to people. But, you know Trump is a full fledged kook who has age and some experience in life, but you'd never know it.
