A Pennsylvania man says his emotional support alligator helps him deal with his depression.
Joie Henney, 65, said his registered emotional support animal named Wally likes to snuggle and give hugs, despite being a 5-foot-long alligator. The York Haven man said he received approval from his doctor to use Wally as his emotional support animal after not wanting to go on medication for depression, he told Philly.com .
No kidding in the literal sense. A gator? I guess my "emotional support" rattler qualifies? Yea, I get relief from watching the critter kill his food. Curbs violent tendencies brought on by depression. I can live vicariously through my wild predator support critter.
As long as he doesn't try taking it on a plane, who cares? He found a way to manage his condition without drugs, so good for him. I love reptiles. I'm glad he was able to rescue a gator that would have likely died in the wild. Sounds like a win win for man and gator.
Years ago, we had an acquaintance who had a pet alligator named Elvis. It is illegal (as far as I know) to own one, but this guy was a little out there anyway. One day I came home from work, and my wife said "Don't go into the shower." When I went and looked, Elvis was inside the glass enclosure ! He was about 3 feet long.
This guy was moving and had no where to leave him while he got settled, so we got to keep Elvis for a couple of days...….we had to use the second bathroom, and keep that bathroom door locked so we wouldn't forget and go in there. I have to admit, he was kinda cute, but I was very happy when he came and got him.
Guess I shouldn't talk about my Brown Recluse Support Spider.
