In one tweet, Mr. Trump claimed the new caravan was 8,000 strong; a few hours later he upped it to 12,000.

I bet that at the State of the Union, it will be around 20,000.

Why don't you seek out a viable news source what the actual numbers are instead of calling Trump a liar?

Oh, didn't the following tell you that with Trump lying is not lying - it is just "Hyperbole" and therefore excused. And the truth isn't the truth because of Alternative Facts.

Frankly, I cannot find much on hordes at the border since last week when people were entering Mexico in an orderly manner, even in border state papers--so it cannot be that big of an emergency.

To Trump--anything is an emergency--if they run out of Big Macs--National Emergency!

And the numbers appear to be more like 2,000.

"...Mexican officials put wrist bands on the migrants as they entered the country to monitor the flow of people. The bands must be kept until the migrants register with authorities.

"...Once registered, migrants who met the requirements to stay would be issued humanitarian visas, allowing them to work in Mexico or continue to the U.S. border...."

...Those who entered Mexico at the official border crossing had done so in a “very orderly” and respectful manner, in contrast to clashes that took place at the frontier in October when a larger caravan began crossing from Guatemala....

...Mexico’s National Migration Institute said 969 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua crossed into Ciudad Hidalgo...approximately 700 people were still waiting to cross into Mexico from Tecun Uman on the Guatemalan side of the border..."

You do remember the last caravan, that we had to use tear gas on at the border to keep them out. Right?

It is indeed a loophole & a crisis. Word is out that Central Americans can get into the country by pretending to claim asylum. The way it's done now we have to release them into the US unmonitored until their asylum hearing comes up, which is months or even years. Since most know they have no legitimate claim, they never show up for their hearings. Now we have no idea where they are, what they're doing, etc. and the criminals can't even be deported when caught because sanctuary cities refuse to follow the law or cooperate with ICE. Worse yet, we have left wing activist groups from the US going South of the border, explaining how to navigate the loopholes. That's why the asylum laws must be rewritten & the processing of asylum claims must be done at Mexico's Southern border.

Thank you! It's amazing how many Democrats actually think of themselves as the party of the working man & the R's as the party of the rich. No matter how many times that's disproven, they still can't get it through their heads.

The Democrats have all but abandoned the working class. If they cared at all about working class Americans, they would be in favor of limiting illegal immigration, which has utterly hollowed out working class communities and driven down wages significantly. They care more about illegal immigrants and 'diversity' than taking care of American citizens.

10's of thousands of Americans choose Mexico - millions if visitors and medical tourism is taken into account, tens of millions if we count those who use products made there.

This may come as news to many - but many of the people who come here are doing so for the money. The other Central Americans are often doing so (now) due to political instability, which is partially fueled by the US (over centuries....including recently)...and also many other countries.

We have this idea (colonialists and empires in general) that we can screw up the world for profit and gain...then they just #walkaway, and wow....100's of years of history erased in an instant.

Not true...of course. We made many a bed (even the fearless POTUS says we are guilty of many bad things all over the world).....and now we need to take responsibility for it.

Well the 2020 platform of taking away everyone's health insurance plans, raising their taxes, keeping their borders open and infanticide, should woo Joe Sixpack back to voting D.
