People are talking jail time but honestly I think the public humiliation is punishment enough.
He should do some real time. Because IF someone had been falsely accused of this crime, it would have been practically impossible for them to get a fair trial and I'm sure Smollett would have been silent about it.
Has a good career, makes good money, no known personal or life problems, has friends and the respect of his colleagues in the entertainment industry, lives in a high end apartment building......concocts fake hate crime attack upon himself. What the hell was he thinking?
Personally, I don't think he was thinking all that much. I suspect that he and his manager knew he was going to be let go from Empire for whatever reason. Budget cuts, or new direction or management taking over, who knows. It happens all of the time. And I am thinking his manager was the one who concocted this thing to keep his client's name in the media for a little bit longer. I might be totally wrong here, but I just feel like this is something a manager would do.
