Typically I would say in a situation like this, Jussie would get a slap on the wrist.
But honestly, I'm not so sure.
I don't think he's going to do hard time, but I don't think this is going away anytime soon - especially when the moron used the US Mail.
Yeah... That's a felony.

What I'm more dismayed about, and yet, not surprised in the slightest, is that there haven't been (more) calls to boycott Empire and fire Jussie. I mean, the SWJ's called for Roseanne's head on a platter in about .03 seconds.
I saw Tawana Brawley mentioned; that was in 1987. The railroading of the Duke lacrosse players
was in 2006 and still comes up as a cautionary tale to believing rape allegations.
But it shouldn't be. It should be a lesson in how to pay attention and discriminate truth from falsehood in general.
There was a fact known immediately that conclusively proved she wasn't raped. After the time when the rape supposedly happened (according to her later story), she called the cops and complained that some players were saying mean and racially-charged things to her -- but she didn't mention having been raped. Again, she was on the phone with the cops after the time of the alleged rape, and she didn't mention the rape but complained about something relatively trivial. She first mentioned the rape when she was about to be arrested for public intoxication in a grocery store parking lot. Saying she was raped meant she got to go to the hospital instead of jail. There was never any reason to believe her claim.
"......"Smollett has exactly the kind of skills we look for at our fine organization," said CNN correspondent Brian Stelter. "He picked a narrative, made up all the relevant facts and details, and stuck with his story in spite of glaring holes in the plot. It's hard to find people who understand our core values here at CNN, but Smollett seems to be just the guy for us......."
This whole thing surely shows how epically stupid Smollett is.
It was a really dumbass move on his part. I mean most of this stuff that is truly fake gets figured out. The police aren't stupid and when they start doing a little digging and they'll figure it all out.
Guy is either a narcissist and thinks he's smarter than everyone else or he's a dimwit that can't think a couple of steps ahead.

....and here we are in 2019 and the media not only doesn't wait to get the whole story....they'll hand out the pitchforks and lead the mob.
I mean wow...Covington and now Smoletts being met with zero opposition in the mainstream press for fears of questioning even some of the absurd stuff would end their employment.
Hate to say it but wow, our media sucks and that's left or right wing which is increasingly the two choices as they fight for corporate advertising and ratings to make their profit goals.
