Probably because her spokeswoman was tweeting some weird stuff.

You and Rocko are making good points. When you stop crying about being a victim, you rise above it. A really long time ago, when I was home sick, I was lying around watching tv. I saw Oprah talking about what she went through to get where she was that day.

She talked about her struggles, the racism, the bigotry that she faced, and that's fine. What she didn't do was use that as a crutch. It just made her work harder - kind of like a "prove them wrong" kind of thing and/or "I don't care what you think, I'm going to succeed, now get out of my way".

I'm sure she had her days where she was tired, upset about it, angry about it - but she didn't sit down and stop. She didn't tell anyone within range that she couldn't make it because whitey kept her down, or the system kept her down, or racism kept her down - she kept trying in spite of obstacles. Not only is she black, she is a female - so double hurdles for her back in those days. Now look at her.

Complaining and whining about it does nothing. Not letting someone tell you how your life is going to be is how you succeed. I've always viewed those who use that as some kind of excuse for not doing the best that they can in life as weak people. When you have to blame everyone and everything around you, you're weak. Millions of others have had the exact same struggles, have the same history, have the same color skin, and they made it. It's about attitude - you can defeat yourself, or you can stand up for yourself and make your life how you want it to be.

He is always going to be known as that guy who faked his hate crime.
I read something about that earlier. I'm getting to the part where I'm no longer enjoying this. I don't feel "bad" for him, he made that bed - grown adult doing something so stupid. And I'm not sure it's really "disappointment" because I don't even know him....but it's...sad, in a pathetic kind of way, how he just ruined his whole life over something so bloody stupid!

I looked at the comments in his last twitter post (Jan 28), which I had not done before because I knew what I was going to find...but did it this time anyway. Yep, people are totally trashing on him - and I just don't find joy in that.

All I can think is: "WTH were you doing? What the ever loving f were you thinking? You just threw it all away, you fricken moron! You had so much that people dream of having - and you're losing it over something this dumb."

Well, she's not wrong - at least not about the big media outlets. They are all for clicks and ads and not substance. It doesn't make what Smollett did any less real, though.

I'm wondering why the Illnois DA, Kim Foxx, recused herself from the case.

He may be an acquaintance, meeting up at social events in Chicago. If so, she's right to recuse herself.

Also, slight correction - she's an SA.

The brothers either have already testified, or are going to testify, in a grand jury case, according to this:

They spent the day in a courthouse.

The beginning of the end?

He’s now facing federal terrorism charges for that letter that he sent to the Empire studios. I guess he put fake anthrax in there. What an idiot.
