Why do you think you can just make things up? There were ready to go through with the trial. There was no plea deal.
As much as I hate to agree with DC her characterization is pretty close. A defendant doesn't forfeit his bail money or agree to community service (apparently two days) if all charges are dropped and he's exonerated. The whole thing is sealed, for now, but I'm guessing he got some form of probation before judgement.
Rush Limbaugh: Have you seen all these massive protests out there? Have you seen all the riots out there? You know, the ones that be quickly organized in every major city across the country. The ones where white people wear masks and torch private property and scream at the cops. Have you seen those riots in the aftermath of the Smollett exoneration, the riots protesting that a black criminal was completely let off the hook for obvious crimes by a prosecutor who obviously has a problem with cops?
The Assistant Prosecuter Magits looked visibly ill and emotionally disturbed when he answered questions and made his statement on behalf of the prosecutors office. Maybe he was just in shock at what he was doing, maybe he was threatened. Come on Mr. Trump, you've been fumigating the FBI for a while now and there has to be some honest competent people in there by now you can put on this case.
I almost never play "armchair psychologist" but it looks pretty obvious to this psychology layman that this guy was shoved in front of the media to be cannon fodder for the generals who put him there.
I watched the dope on the news last night. Two things that are wrong with this are, 1) no accountability for people to lodge hoaxes that will most definitely wrongfully harm people, in this case a group of people (Trump Supporters/Republicans) because part of his hoax was saying at least one of the attackers wore a MAGA hat or said something to the effect that he was "In MAGA territory or country". 2) He walked out of the courtroom like he was still the "victim".
It wasn't enough that Foxx recused herself because nobody reporting to her is going to go against her wishes. She should have asked for someone else to be assigned to this altogether. She knew what she was doing.

Shady as you know what.
Can I still blame the white man for all this even though everyone involved is non-white?

Why not? We've seen the left pin just about anything onto white folks in some convoluted and twisted way. But if you're going to do it, at least make it humorous.

I'm not making things up. The prosecution didn't go through with the trial. They made a deal with the accused. They dismissed the charges in exchange for $10,000 and public service. That's a deal.
In practical terms, Smollett could have been put on trial, and found guilty of filing a false police report. Filing a false police report is normally a misdemeanor, but it can be a felony. If found guilty of the felony, Smollett could have faced a fine of up to $10,000 and a year in jail. Given that he has no previous criminal record, the time in jail probably would not have been imposed, and instead public service would have been imposed. Guess what, he gave Illinois the $10,000 and has performed public service, and may perform more public service. From the Prosecuting Attorney's office, this would be a win. They got what the state would have gotten anyway, without the time and expense of a trial. Smollett's team got a win, because they avoided the publicity and repercussions of a trial ending with a guilty verdict. That is what plea deals are all about, both sides getting a win.
But for public service, they should have made him do something he didn't already support. It's supposed to be a punishment, and what he did was hardly a punishment to him. Make him work for something real like they did to Boy George, or have to lick envelopes for an organization he would normally despise, as examples.

I'd be disappointed in you if you didn't!
