They're originalists. The "under God" stuff was added with all the commie scares in the 20th century. They're not part of the original oaths, or our money, or the pledge of allegiance.

Eisenhower was pretty solid on the whole but he made a mistake with that one.

I just heard Billy Graham Jr say they give him a pass on the adultery for the SC justices. Boy do I hope they wind up disappointed. No one knows for sure how far left or right these people are until they get some time in the court under their belt.

You would have a valid point were "separation of church and state" actually written somewhere.

It is. In a letter Thomas Jefferson sent but it was nothing more than a letter, nothing legal or official. He was actually explaining why the Federal Government could not interfere in a state's association with religion.

The establishment clause is and it's a commonly used phrase for the commonly held interpretation of the establishment clause. You can parse words all day long but this NOT a Christian Nation even if there are a whole bunch of loudmouthed Christians (and even more non-loudmouthed ones who agree with me) who think so.

The clause also allows an individual to state their beliefs even when involved in government. It gives to all, not just Christians.

I don’t want that power and NO religion should have that kind of say so.

Seems pretty fundamental to me.
Would be, if any of those sentiments had carried over into the Constitution - the actual legal document. But they didn't.

Well, I was speaking of individuals. A "religion" can't do much of anything.
