It is a serious question and with Ruth apparently she's nowhere near that point. Is she working and contributing ? Doesn't sound like it.
I would guess that the other members of SCOTUS (Much like porn) will know it when they see it. There will be doctors who will be at her bedside and someone will be her caretaker. They will give her the benefit of the doubt.
I do believe Ruth will do the right thing and step out when she has too. I do believe she's trying to hang on for at least another 1-2 years minimum.
Calm down, it's a legitimate question. If Ruth lives another 5 years but can't perform the job functions.....what happens and who decides?
It's an easy answer. She does. There is no way to remove a justice other than impeachment. She can be on life support until after Trump is removed himself.
Let's say, for example, RBG was in a coma. Comas can last a long time and even when you come out of one as a young adult, there are severe health repercussions for years. Who decides when it's time for her to resign? Are there any rules?

There's a simple answer, she herself decides when it's time to resign. There is no mechanism that forces her to step down because of poor health.
She can be impeached with whatever criteria there is(2/3 vote) I believe, but that would be unconstitutional because the constitution says there must be a crime.
When can a city-data member be removed due to asininity?
Yes, because asking a legitimate, thoughtful question about the legal process to remove an unavailable participant in SC rulings is considered a worthy reason to stifle free speech by removing the poster who asked it.
Were you guys concerned with this in the past when justices stayed on the court into their 80's and 90's? Does one of Kavanaugh's drinking buddies need a job?

With the fairly recent advent of the concept of 'brain death' (physical, not political ), I'm not entirely sure this is true any longer.
Wondering what kind of dirt the left will manufacture on Amy Coney Barrett when Trump nominates her... She's a great mother who has adopted several children, so I guess they will manipulate that and say she is an abusive mother. After all, mothers should be able to abort their babies right up until the moment of birth, even during dilation right?
