^^^^Silly remark---and you know it, too. If early immigrants were "destroying the environment", then so were your ancestors, as well as the Native American Indians who hunted buffalo almost to the point of extinction.

The core issue is with how the American lifestyle is designed and expected to be incredibly wasteful. Kind of weird to blame immigrants.

What about "real Americans" (as you'd see it) who have kids? Are they exempt from your contempt?

Really? Illegals certainly have high carbon footprints. All you have to do is see how they live. Just check out areas where they live. You will see trash on the ground. They don't recycle. When it comes to 10-15 people living in a flophouse with just one bathroom---guess where the second bathroom is? It's the backyard.

When they cross the desert while sneaking in here, they dump tons of trash on fragile desert eco-systems.

Are there Americans who leave high carbon footprints? Of course there are. We don't need to add anymore people who behave the same way.

Seriously? I would think that you would know basic math. You know---the more people there are, the bigger strain on the environment. Do you think we have unlimited buildable land and potable water? Do you think you'll like living in a country with 1 billion people? If so, how do you think life would be for your descendants? For example, India has over 1 billion people and Bangalore doesn't have enough potable water. Ponder that.

People are ruining the environment.

Their over consumption of resources, the pollution they create, and the environmental damage they cause.

America's increasing population (mostly via immigration) will only place a heavier burden on our environment. People who move to America (or other advanced nations) end up using more resources, have a larger carbon footprint, and release more pollution into the environment than they would have if they had stayed in their home countries.

The environment is the #1 issue of our times.
Currently there is a mass extinction under way of animal and plant species on the planet, in addition to more dramatic climate changes. Deforestation and human created pollution play a major role in these negative environmental changes.

The biggest impact western nations (or other advanced nations) could potentially have on improving their environment is to stop all immigration into their nations, both legal or illegal.

Population stabilization is the only realistic way to prevent further environmental destruction, and to achieve this stabilization advanced nations will have to cease allowing in immigrants.

"When immigrants come to the United States, they do not maintain the traditional lifestyle of their home country. Rather, they quickly adapt to the American lifestyle. As they do, they become greater consumers and polluters; their individual ecological footprint increases. For example, the carbon footprint of the average immigrant is 302 percent higher than it would have been had s/he remained at home."

Nice post for the base..

I have posted "facts". If you don't like it, well too bad too sad.

Just sit back and think for a minute, will you? More people means more strain on our natural resources. In other words, more people means more demands for potable water and buildable land. More people means more demands for natural gas, gasoline, electricity. More people means more strains on the infrastructure.

I don't understand how people don't get this. SMH

So, IOW, you don't care about the environment and don't think that adding to our population means more strain on natural resources, etc.

Kind of weird to interpret it that way, and it's even weirder that you Lefties mock environmental concerns.

The OP is right. Immigration is bad for the environment. Countries with low birth rates need to keep immigrants out because the immigration simply defeats the environmental benefits from a population's decision to decrease its number. There's no arguing against that.

This political climate is also devastating our figurative environment.
