So a Detroit police officer pulls a young lady over, and all of her documentation is out of date. Her fault obviously, but what happens next is bizarre.
The officer offers her a ride since it’s freezing outside, but she refuses and begins to walk away. Her prerogative, right? But then, the officer gets on Snapchat and begins to mock the lady with a video and messages like:
The video shows her walking away, one of the officers says she is doing the “walk of shame,” and stickers are added that read, “What black girl magic looks like” and “celebrating Black History Month.” It ended with an officer saying, “Bye, Felicia,” according to the Detroit Metro Times.
Okay, so the idiot will be disciplined for that bit of stupidity, but lemme tell ya, this guy is a real piece of work. Once I read this part of the story, I gotta wonder, HOW IN THE HELL is this guy still a cop?
Quote:
This isn’t the first time Steele has been in trouble. In 2008 he was charged with physically attacking his ex-girlfriend and firing a gun next to her head, according to WXYZ.
He took a misdemeanor plea deal for probation and stayed on the force.
WTH? Fired a gun next to his girlfriend’s HEAD?? And he’s still a cop?
When I read this story the Chief said this wouldn’t be a cop in his department after the last trouble, but that was before his tenure. Hopefully there is a pink slip in his future. But hell just be shuffled to another desperate department, and everyone will forget about it.
You just know this is not the last time anybody is going to read about this cop performing badly. A real shame a police force would not take the action necessary to confirm "serving the people" and "doing so with integrity" were in their mission statement.
Cops of any race wondering why respect for the uniform is gone need look no further than examples like this azzwipe.
Detroit must be REALLY desperate for cops to keep a dangerous jerk like him on the payroll.
From what I understood, not really. Those guys are really well paid. Their starting pay isn’t good, but it goes up fast. And there are no shortage of candidates at ANY police academy. The pay, benefits and 20 year retirement always makes that line of work appealing.
On top of that, the world is full of wackjobs that are either natural bullies, authoritarians, or guys who GOT bullied that can’t wait to strap on a badge and gun and turn the tables.

Both of my brothers are cops. They're considerably younger than me.
They're big strong ugly boys who look very intimidating. But they certainly know where the line is that they'll never cross. Neither has ever drawn his weapon, sprayed mace or used a taser or other take-down device. All of us were competitive wrestlers in HS and college and can do that w/o mechanical/chemical assistance. And they both have had to subdue unruly troublemakers many times on duty. Almost all were meth heads, a real problem in both of their mostly rural areas.
And both have told me that they HATE the "bad cops" in their depts and how difficult it is to get them removed. Some of it is nepotism, but I kinda doubt that's the case in a large dept like Detroit.
