A school superintendent’s “poor judgment” allowed a teacher to wear blackface during an African history lesson, offending families in the community.
John Huffman, superintendent of the Victory Christian School system in Sacramento, Calif., explained to Yahoo Lifestyle in an email: “Last Thursday our elementary chapel speaker dressed up as a Central African native woman in order to tell the life story of missionary David Livingston and his work in Africa in the late 1800s. In an effort to bring authenticity to her role, she wore a typical native dress and headdress. She also used makeup to darken her skin tone on her arms, shoulders and face.
Who in their right mind would find it offensive? It's makeup. I've seen more offensive instances of makeup in everyday life. Spend an hour at Walmart and you'll see it for yourself.
I would think, given all the recent freak outs over this sort of thing, a history teacher would know not to even take a chance on this sort of thing. People will always find a way to become a victim, so why give them more ammunition?

I'd prefer to see more incidents like this, but without the apology from the top brass. Perhaps if we overload the SJW with behavior that they see as offensive they'll either get over themselves or implode.
I will defer to African Americans over whether this is offensive or not. I honestly don't know why white people think they have a right to tell African Americans what is offensive or not. That itself seems pretty racist to me.

Please - I'm t5eaching history about the American Indians and decide to dress up s an Indian - get over it - teachers are trying to be creative to keep the kids interest!
It’s pretty funny there are still—STILL—people who don’t get this is wrong.
And, no, it’s not the same as the Wayans bros in that idiot movie White Chicks.
This is a painful history of blacks being mocked and ridiculed by whites wearing black face make-up, so it is not a good idea for white people to wear black face make-up. (I can’t think of a situation in which it would be appropriate.)
No, not all black people will be offended. But, you’re taking a huge risk by doing it.
To be safe, white people should not do it.
