Conservative states get more govt handouts for farming

It's always like that. Their congressmen 'bring home the bacon'. Then break wind about the 'big bad guv'ment '. The rustics lap it up like dogs to their own vomit.

Yea it is down right hilarious.
Republicans love Big Government when the hand outs go them and their cronies.

Oh, there are plenty of them who voted for Trump. The Central Valley is full of them - and you can see a lot of signs off of 99 and I-5 denouncing Democratic politicians.

How did we make it before the free hand outs?

Do you wish to offer a differing opinion to the points I made? I'm fairly Conservative for most issues but I try and take in the big picture. We are are not talking about subsidizing some technology or something else that is inconsequential. These subsidies have a direct influence on the market, specifically they keep food prices low and insure there is plenty to go around.

Obviously there is issue with the system but overall the idea is sound.

I see the OP's point as not subsidies per se, but the hypocrisy of so many conservatives who decry subsidies and "freebees" for THEM, but will use pretzel logic when trying to excuse subsidies granted to them. In effect, it's a form of "wealth-fare" they support.

Yep.

California’s farmers are staunch conservative Republicans.

This is why I support legalization of the Devils lettuce.
They'd have a cash crop.
They wouldn't be dependent upon subsidies.
Another Avenue of Revenue for taxation.
Less inmates to house feed/provide for.
More than just wacky tobaccy products to bring to market. Medical avenue, hemp based products, effective at phytoremediation (Meaning it cleans the soil removing harmful heavy metals etc.), possible fuel and lubrication source etc...

But other republicans can't help but trip over themselves rushing to demonize it
Think of the ChildrunzTM
Reefer madness!

Like it would go to market with absolutely no oversight, or any law applied to it...

I'm republican. I'm not a hypocrite. There are many ways .gov and tax payer subsidies can be reduced to cut deficit spending lowering tax burdens. Just means alot of regulations get rolled back and folks of both sides of the aisle put their feelz on hold...
