I can’t believe what I’m reading here, why shouldn’t someone in their 20’s be president? 20-year olds today are much smarter than they were in the past!
No, no they aren't. If anything, the reverse is true.
I think if these kiddos can't even make it on their own and have to live in Mommy & Daddy's basement that they certainly are not ready to lead this Republic. I've never met a single 25 year old that had the experience in life to handle the job of President of the United States.
It's not a job conducive to kids.
According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, 33% of 25-29 year olds lived with their parents or grandparents in 2016. This is almost three times as many as in 1970.
Pew’s researchers think late twenty-somethings are boomeranging back home because, in contrast to previous generations at this stage of their lives, they are less likely to have a well-paying job and less likely to be married. It turns out that no job and no partner makes living with your parents a lot more appealing.

The research echoes findings from the Pew Research Center earlier this year, which found that 32.1 percent of 18- to 34-year-olds lived at their parents' homes in 2014, exceeding the 31.6 percent of young adults who were married or living with a partner in their own household.Dec 22, 2016
I think there are reasons to allow a certain amount of life experience. Though the age was set more or less by accident, i.e. to keep Hamilton away from running against Washington it has served a value. In 1787 a 25 year old may have been OK. Now, most people who are 25 are still in graduate school if they're of the type that would run for office.
I really don't see why their age matters. If they got the largest share of the votes, then the population clearly found them to be a better fit than any of the other candidates.
