I am not gay, but I prefer the presence of an irritating LGBT civil rights crowd to a place where people are persecuted and molested because of their "properties". Nor do I think much of religious people, who want to force their silly views on everyone else.
The only aspect where I am a bit conservative is appropriate behavior in public, which seems a bit exaggerated in the West at times. Like people kissing in a crowded subway, I feel it is inappropriate.
In general, the more progressive a place is, the better a place to live. And vice versa. The biggest hell holes on this planet are the most conservative ones.
