The game ends around 10-10:30PM EST (7-7:30PM Pacific), but if some people feel compelled to stay up all night after the game, it is up to them. Sick days, and personal days exist for a reason. The fact that the game is on Sunday keeps most people more honest with beer consumption, knowing next day is a working day.

And no, it does not cost the taxpayer $4.4 billion. The "lost productivity" estimates are bunk.

For comparison, the partial government shutdown that just lasted over a month will only have a permanent impact of $3 Billion...after people get back pay and spend much of it.

It is so bad with so many people calling in sick or just working not up to capacity that 72% of HR managers polled say that the Monday after the Super Bowl should be a national holiday.

However, many businesses ignore national holidays as is. How many businesses closed for MLK Jr. Day? ...President's Day? ...Columbus Day (which has grown in controversy)? Etc...

To me, it seems like a simpler solution is to just have the Super Bowl move to Saturday. You already get a two week gap between the conference championships and the Super Bowl - so moving the big game forward a single day shouldn't be too tough on the players, while on the other hand, most workers already have the weekend off.
I cry BS. What's your source for this HR 'poll'?

I agree this number is questionable. He doesn't provide a source for that number either but he didn't say the taxpayers paid for it.

If the Superbowl were to become a national holiday before election day...oh man, how far this country has fallen.

What a goofy suggestion to change the day to accommodate fans?

In years past, it wouldnt matter what the reason was for employees being unproductive, its their job, if they cannot make responsible decisions with their time and what time they get to bed, why should game days be changed or altered? Why not just re emphasize to them how employment works and what your responsibilities are as an employee?

Football ratings continue to drop. In a few more years football will die a natural death. Problem solved.

leave it as it is. if you can't show up to work the next day you need to learn to handle your alcohol.

Ratings were up slightly this season after massive drops the prior two.
