I am all for this 70% tax bracket if the Democrats also agree that ALL Americans pay a minimum 15%, no more of half the country paying $0 in income tax..
Republicans created the biggest zero filer class in history.
during the presidency of George W. Bush, the percentage of filers who paid no federal income tax rose from 25.2 percent to 36.3 percent. During this time, Bartlett says, Republicans added a significant child credit to the tax code, resulting in a rise in nonpayers.
But we're talking about AOC's proposal on personal income taxes. You're implying that investment would cease if the ROI gets nicked more. Nope.
Shareholders, as individuals, receive dividends and capital gains (when they sell assets). Their ROI does indeed get nicked when they're taxed more. That means less available for re-investment in the economy.
And I certainly would have never signed one that allows the other party in the contract to change the rules of the contract at their sole discretion.
"Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's" does not mean that Ceasar gets to decide how much is his and how much is yours.
If that's the case you best logoff the internet because you're espousing your views on a system that in large part was developed and financed with government grants and funding...

Well then you've just thrown out the entire manner in which our government is financed.
(Still one more good reason to shift to a flat rate)
I agree.
10% across the board, no deductions, no exceptions.
With a Constitutional amendment that forbids the government from raising the rate above 10% and limits state rates to no more than 5%.
Everyone pays a total of 15% of their income in taxes.

Everyone.
Man, I would love that. It has zero chance of becoming reality but it would be great. Talk about making taxes easy every year.
New polls just out...including 54 percent of Republicans."
That made Schultz spit up some coffee.
These were the Republicans who were supposed to have Hillary Rodham Clinton taking Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, possibly Texas, Arizona yada...yada...yada...
