Scalise wanted to offer his unique perspective as a victim of violence. Dems didn't want him there. Their focus was taking away guns from citizens. He said if Dems passed their law it still wouldn't have prevented him from being shot by a crazed Bernie Sanders supporter.

Proof that it's all for effect--and providing sound bites to their base for the 2020 campaign.

After Nearly Dying From A Bullet, Steve Scalise Still An NRA Lackey
One would have thought Steve Scalise, R-La., would have developed some humanity after nearly getting killed by a bullet in a random shooting. But no. If you listen to his recent Fox News interview when he was asked, “Will that experience change how you think or vote?” it is pretty clear he is still the same NRA lackey he was before. His response was, “I think it’s fortified it” Scalise said. “We shouldn’t first be thinking of promoting our political agenda. And I think we see too much of that, where people say OK, now you have to have gun control.” He continues to be one of the Republicans bought and paid for by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and will continue to be their lackey.

Let me get this straight, the Huff says he is a NRA lackey and you immediately believe that the victim of a shooting has no voice in the gun control conversation?

The bullets will stay neutral in this debate. They always do.

Huffpo is presenting the politically motivated assassination attempt of multiple members of Congress as a random shooting?

Well Huffpo, that's one way to exclude your voice from being considered competent on this issue . . .

Yes...exactly right! He has always been an NRA lackey and his voice will be the NRA's voice because each GOP member gets a rating from the NRA so they have to be obedient little tools or they will get primaried. Why should his getting shot give him extra clout? I am sure he received plenty of thoughts and prayers and that should be more than enough.

We have this mumbo jumbo out there about someone can't have an opinion about something unless they walk in their shoes.

You can't talk about being black unless you are black. Non-Hispanics can't comment about being Hispanic.
You can't have an opinion on women unless you are a woman. You can't have a straight actor play a gay role in a movie.

Now you have someone who has experienced gun violence - and you make excuses why he CAN'T have an opinion because you won't like what he has to say.

Hypocritical...

LOL. Speaking of hypocrites, it wasn't that long ago that right wingers were telling Gabbie Giffords to **** and keep her opinions to herself.

Scalise is owned by the NRA. His time would be better spent talking to a lawyer to figure out a defense if he is implicated in the current investigation of their ties to Russian money laundering.
