WASHINGTON — Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee asked the new Democratic chairman to drop the quest to obtain President Donald Trump's tax returns from the Treasury Department.

In a letter to Massachusetts Rep. Richard Neal, who is the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, on Thursday, Republican Reps. Kevin Brady and Mike Kelly pleaded with the chairman to not pursue Trump's tax returns, citing privacy concerns and what they characterized as an abuse of authority.

Demanding Trump's tax returns is futile.
They ain't gonna get them, and most Republicans do not care. Dems just want the tax returns so that they can find something to become outraged about. No one will ever see them, just as no one will ever see mine.

Dems should tend to legislative business.

I think the house Democrats need to focus on legislating and not petty political sniping. Getting his tax returns will be a long drawn out political process (if they're successful) and won't tell anyone anything that Mueller doesn't already know.

America has bigger problems. But of course, the majority of Democrats are quite dumb and have been brainwashed by CNN and MSNBC and some hollywood celebrities to care more about his returns than the direction the country goes.

The Democrats should put as much effort into getting tRump's taxes as the Republicans put into the Benghazi hearings.

[yawn..] Yeah. I remember back when Omorosa had recordings that were going to bring Trump down. Still waiting. Turns out she only sold 33,000 books. Total.
Give it your best shot, Dims.
Rasmussen measures Trump's approval back up to 49%.

Bingo! The Democrats are doing a great job! They can walk and chew at the same time. If there is no corruption, mail fraud, money laundering, Russian ties, why worry? Individual 1 is the only president to not willfully release his tax returns. I bet there is a good reason and it's not an audit.

There is.
It's none of your business. He lied to get you to keep quiet. It worked.

Well, the Democrats seem to disagree. It looks like you and the GOP will lose that "none of America's business" argument. But you will learn that tactic doesn't work like Whitter learned that lesson today.
